Ground Slam

goodbye ground slam hello cyclone
How is Ground Slam and its aoe effected by the +2 range from Master of the Arena? Currently I have 36% increased radius of area skills. What I am trying to do is socket my GS with concentrated effect and still be able to out range archers.

Would working my way to Master of the Arena add anything to my AOE radius?

I was looking up the quality bonus for Ground Slam on the wiki, when I noticed this entry in the changelog:

Fixed the behaviour of Ground Slam so that you don't miss things really close to you.

Unfortunately, this is still a huge issue with the skill and can be incredibly annoying when fighting things like monkeys or the scurrying madmen in City of Sarn. Is this a known issue or was it assumed to have been fixed w/that early change? I can't be the only one that is driven mad by constantly having to back up to hit smaller mobs.

This gem has a very bad quality bonus. I'm lvl 84 GS mara and I run 0q GroundSlam. Other gems have dmg\attack speed\cast steed\projectile dmg etc.. this one has Stun duration >.<

To the post above. yes u don't hit nothing right in front of ur char close. That's extremely annoying cause u literaly have to kite melee mobs... this needs to change...

I'm kinda getting mad at this game for being very appealing yet having insane amount of imbalance and bugs.

ok now im starting to miss ground slam... but what reason is there to play it when other builds like elemental cleave just dominate? will ground slam or phys rather get any love in the near future?

I'm a bit irritated with the inability of GS to hit enemies directly to my left or right in front of me. It seems to be quite easy for enemies to bunch up on the left or right since they end up standing outside of the point of the GS cone. This forces me to re-position more often than I'd like. This doesn't really place a limit on the power of GS, it just makes it a bit more annoying to use.

An idea I had to fix this would be to move the point of the cone slightly behind the character. Another way of phrasing this is to chop the tip of the GS cone off. Not by very much, GS shouldn't turn into cleave or sweep, but just enough so that 1 enemy standing directly to your left or right is hit by GS. To compensate for this the radius of the cone could be made a bit shorter.

What does everyone think?

To illustrate what I mean (the red circle is the player):

You can see that just by chopping the tip off the range of GS has been shortened, providing a downside to offset the ability to hit more enemies closer to you.

I really liked your illustrations. To take it a step further in a direction I'd really like to see, I made the following graphic. Not only do I want ground slam to slightly increase its width at the point of impact, but why not add a small radius at the impact that covers a small circle around his front, as at right:

THIS! DEVS LOOK AT THIS YOU LAZY TORTOISES AND DO IT!!!
Neurotypicals are the worst thing this planet ever experienced.
in order to do the final picture (the one on the right), they'd need to give it two AoE variables: one for the long arc and one for the tiny point blank. doesn't sound too hard considering shock nova has two radi. personally a strong suggestion would be for that smaller AoE be unaffected by AoE size boosts (this goes for shock nova too).
i would be happy with option two. this is extremely annoying......................................
I'm wondering if there is any plan to fix ground slam's behavior when holding down a hotkey for the skill while aiming at a target.

I've yet to find another example of this issue, but when holding down the hotkey after initially targetting a mob - for example one in the middle of a large pack - once the initial target dies, the next ground slam will do no damage unless you re-press its key, thus changing the target location for it.

No other similar skill such as freezing pulse or cleave suffers this problem, nor do the rest. This can be a very annoying issue as it means lost health or mana gains via leech or on hit unless you constantly spam its hotkey. In my case, this is usually right click, which already takes enough of a beating as-is.

Any word on the problem, Mark?
