with CI, you need stun protection. Stun threshold is based on your base life and damage taken of your life percentage. With CI, your base life without CI modifier is used to calculate your resistance to get stunned(its like 1200 life at lvl 90)

assume you have 5K life, and hit by 1000, it wont stun you; assume you have 10KES and hit by 1000, you'll be stunned very hard for sure.(cause your life is like 900-1400 without CI modifier)

CI gives you HIGH Hp pool without armor and because of that CI builds are much better vs spell focused bosses like über atziri, however vs 82 core malachai i would like to have armor and damage reduction and life flasks with me.

Then why CI?

to get 9K life pool, you dont have to spend 20+ passives with CI. i have only 11 points for defence in my tree, the rest is completely for dps. Also melee damage on full life multiplies your damage by %60 too. With CI you can get x2 dps than life builds. In short, CI can surpass any other melee in dps, that means more leech, better clear speed, and killing things before they get out of control. You can benefit much more with CI in melee builds if you have high gear than life builds.

If you dont have UW, or not even close to that, if you dont have very high gear, i'd recommend for you using lightning coil as chest(or daresso's)

I personally prefer CI, cause i like struggling to always get better gear, and life builds has very low limits compared to CI. If you are willing to give über service and get profit out of it with cheap gear, go for lightning coil, thats for sure.

i prefer going as much as physical damage i can, i cut some '-%mana reserve nodes' in tree and cut herald of ash. I spend those points for jewels or %phys damage / crit multi nodes

also i wouldnt recommend 'strong arm' road to reach unwavering stance, there is a shorter way to UW and im sure there are better passives that you can get dps. I would focus on jewels much more. But thats me you know.

i've just realized that using an 800 evasion shield i have 26% chance to evade without any node into %evasion on the tree

the shield nodes of my tree are OP, if i use bramble sanctuary axn shield, i would have 35% evasion (or even a bit more) with 42%block and 9800es compared to my 10100 es 43%block 9% evasion with onslaught song

basically it's a free grace aura, i would not lose any dps since i dont use coe, still 850k flicker splash dps with taste of hate+atziri promise or 550k reave with these 2 flasks


i did some math if it's worth to go for an eva/es shield on wander, but it's not, but it's very effective on reave/flicker with my tree

Just came back after a long period. Was using Fyndels Witch LL ST in April before the big patch - is loath bane viable for this build? Take it the shav's isn't. :<
