Detonate Mines

If I take "Volatile Mines", which makes Detonating Mines instant, is there a point of using a Detonate Mines linked Faster Casting instead of just using the innate Detonate Mines skill? I notice a small interruption everytime I use Detonate Mine, would reducing the cast time of the Detonate Mines gem reduce the interruption time?
