Frost Blades

A question for GGG : do forked projectiles have the same homing property as the original projectiles, or a fixed spread like with other skills ?
It's kinda hard to tell for sure, stuff goes fast.

A lot of people in this thread clearly trying to scale the projectiles and yet using melee phys as a support. And then they wonder why the result sucks...

I think elemental claws will be the way to go. I'll be working on such a build in the near future

I'm proud I made the build that got hotfix nerfed by 80% in under a week :
Kamikaze Clones /1204796 (LL Mirror Arrow Instability Prolif)

I am currently using this skill and it seems promising. However, i felt like i kept dying. I am using a dagger and a shield ofc i think i shud respec and go with clawsss for the life leech but coudn't find any good ones. Can someone link their shadow build with claws? Thanks
your gear seems to be the issue, you barely have any life on it. Get 4k+ total life and try again.
That which does not kill us, makes a huge mistake.
So what Rory is saying is that if you hit for 100 (60phys + 40cold), adding (Level 1) Melee Physical Damage would make the original hit 130 (78phys + 52cold) but the blades would still only do 100 (60phys + 40cold) each right?

But if you had 30% "increased physical damage with [weapon]s", your original hit would be 130 (78phys + 52cold) and that would apply to the blades too. I hope I've got that right.

So assuming you can support the mana cost, you'd probably want:

Frost Blades - Multistrike - WED - Fork / Chain / LMP / GMP / Pierce
And then LGOH > Leech (?) or ICS / ICD / PCoC (if crit) or Hypothermia or Faster Attacks depending on your build type or preference.

Please let me know if any of that is incorrect, I'm not that clued up with how damage conversion works.

Correct, Glympze. Works the same as the other Melee+Projectile Skills.
I'm kind of itrested about making build using this skill. I just find it confusing what actually increases damage and how?

If I for example use claw as my weapon.

- I put point into claw damage passive. Does it increase both melee hit and projectile damage?

- I put point into projectile damage passive. Does it increase only the damage of the projectiles?

- If I put point into elemental damage or cold damage passive, it should incrase cold damage of the attack?

- I put point into icreased physical damage passive. It should increase damage of the melee hit and projectile?

- Does Melee Physical Damage-gem increase only the melee hit damage or both the melee and projectile?

- Does Physical Projectile Damage-gem should increase only the damage of projectiles. How does the projectile attack speed penalty apply?

-If I understand correctly, it is more beneficial to increase damage of the projectiles?
1. Yes. As long as the modifier is not worded as Increased Melee Damage, it also applies to the Projectiles. Increased Damage with Melee Weapons still applies because your Projectiles still deal Damage with a Melee Weapon.
2. Yes.
3. Of course.
4. See 1.
5. See 1.
6. It doesn't apply. You're using a Melee Attack.
7. Mostly. The most effective method is to increase both simultaneously, next-best is Projectile-specific.
Thanks :)

I was also wondering, how well the new support gems, Ice Bite and Hypothermia, would work with this...
I have a level 37 Shadow using this skill since level 1. My biggest complaint is how clunky it is to use. I will try to utilize the range of the skill yet sometimes a MOB is just out of range and I swing at the air or a MOB will be on top of me and again nothing happens. Since everything swarms you in this game, it's very frustrating to have this skill do nothing when a MOB is right on top of you.

I have enjoyed using this skill while leveling and when it works, it works great. It's not the most efficient but it's really fun actually positioning yourself and trying to put the MOBs in a cone in front of you and then shatter them all in 1 or 2 hits. I can't wait to get flame dash as I think it will synergize awesome with this skill.

I'm running a dual wield claw/acro/evasion build and it's working well so far. Other than dying 10 times to that stupid Archives boss after he was possessed by 2 ghosts, I haven't had any survivability issues. I only have added cold and mana leech linked atm but will try the suggestion of multistrike to see if that helps with the targeting issues. I'm using viper strike for single target and have frenzy + fortify for charges and the buff.

What about Iron Grip?

Would that let the Projectiles double dip on the bonus from strength or do nothing?

Because people just love complicate simple things.

Make regular ele build (crit or RT but crit imo will be better) and use Herald of Ice.
If you kill at least 1 monster rest will die in chain reaction. Simple as it can be and i sure it will work.

btw. To all folks with questions about "how this skill work?".
Its work the same as Lightning Strike but you can't attack ONLY with projectiles like you can with LS.
