It might be a cost issue. But if GGG is doing well they might use a real graphic engine like Cryengine.

But then they will have to be working on porting the game... it's all about the cost.

This is a sample of what PoE could look like on a modern graphical engine.

The link is an upcoming ARPG (well they are trying to kickstarter it) on cryengine.

+1

I hope they port everything the game engine at its current state is a fucking joke. [Removed by Support]

The backgrounds are nice but I wouldn't call anything engine related impressive in that video. Lightning effects were weak, the ragdoll physics were ugly and cryengine is ubisoft.

jury is out on that one for now.

well since you think current poe looks better than that... I dont know what else to say... poe doesn't even have a physics engine bro... and it's not just graphic quality... poe is also infamous for it's lack of optimization... my 4770k @4.9ghz on gtx 980 gets random fps drop even when standing in town/hideout doing nothing sometimes. I get more fps in BF4 on max settings during online play than PoE standing still in a well decorated hideout. I get screen freeze in full group when more than 1 mjolner is present...
The real hardcore PoE players and the elites sit in town and zoning in and out of their hideouts trading items. Noobs that don't know how to play PoE correctly, kill monsters for items. It's pure fact, it will never change.

Welcome to PoE.

>not playing PoE with quad sli Titan X

Are you even trying?
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
Record setting sales from the new supporter packs is good to hear. As with others, I don't put too muck stock into player numbers. The main thing is that there are enough active players to have a thriving community.

Also, Umbra looks very interesting. I'm not sure the cryengine is something GGG should consider. You think we have people complaining about performance issues now? Just imagine the complaints when they can't get even remotely acceptable performance from a game running that beastly engine.

On a related note, I believe I have a standing bet that PoE will reach a 5th act. It is looking good that I will win that bet. I don't know if PoE will ever reach the 10 or so acts initially predicted, but the game length after 4-5 acts is going to be plenty long.

Have you removed Asus ROG/GameFirst yet?
umbra looks good but im not here for looks. Im here for almost infinite number of playable builds. (although GGG seem to like scorched earth nerf tactics when something gets to popular rather than seeing it just as a meta trend) Hope umbra can provide diversity and uniqueness same way
