Frequent FPS collapses (despite overall good performance)
Hello Support and Community,
My problem is, i run the game at 30 - 80 frames (30 are modest but still enough for me), but i get heavy fluctiations or FPS collapses really frequently. I will show different examples: 1. everything went fine, then this graph appeared: 2. same stuff right here, even though there are NOT many enemies or something: 3. imagine how fun it was to play in this moment: 4.Now in all 3 cases one could say my PC just sucks, but look at this. I have 60 FPS in town all the time, and then suddenly i get 2 complete collapses: Especially in the last picture, i dont know what the hell is going on, as there was nothing to compute or to load, i just walked around in town. Any ideas what causes these problems? (Given the data i provided) RAM or Graphics Card or COULD it even be my Hard Drive? Further i can say, in similar games like Diablo 3, i have extreme collapses the first two or three minutes i go to a new area, but then everything runs smooth. In Poe, the collapses appear very frequently AND constantly and without obvious reasons like tons of enemies. My specs: Win 7 64bit ATI HD 5770 1 GB RAM 4 GB DDR2 RAM some AMD x4 processor 5 year old hard drive Thanks in advance, Holonist Last edited by TheHolonist#2421 on Feb 10, 2013, 11:14:04 AM

Having the same problem since the last patch.
It happens most often when there are fire effects such as Fire Storm or burning ground. Other games released in 2013 run at max settings with over 100fps stable. I have shadows disabled. i5-3570k hd7950 SSD win7 x64 Last edited by Fabrizio#4790 on Feb 10, 2013, 10:56:08 AM

One word - ATI. Unfortunately the game isn't optimised for Radeon cards.

I have a 580Ti, and experience similar problems. It's understandable given that producing assets has been a higher priority than optimising performance - this is open beta after all, once the devs catch their breath I imagine they'll devote more attention to performance considerations.

" Why would it be optimized for nvidia card then? Game isn't optimized at all. |

I had the exact same problem and 2 mins ago I tryed to disable my 2nd monitor just to have a try. Reslut? perfect 60 FPS with no drops at all (only 1 sec after entering an area).
I hope this will help you. I am Drakunia... and you are not! And I am also GFL (Gamer For Life)

Got the same problem with an ATI. No Way to get things better with this problem?
Partying gets really annoying with People spamming Totems and Spells with many projectiles =/ |

I updated my video card drivers and it works WAY better now. not perfect, but well enough. you might try as well.
(i know one should always do that before making threads about problems, but in this case i didnt know HOW important those drivers can be. and they were not that outdated) And as i read in a FAQ-thread, the problem occurs often with some skills. Think the only thing we can do is wait. But i guess theyll fix it in the next 2 or 3 patches, as its already in the FAQ Last edited by TheHolonist#2421 on Feb 10, 2013, 5:28:17 PM

Same thing started happening to me after the patch. Before patch I was playing flawlessly-even in large groups of enemies with multiple spells going on. Now I can't progress very well through the game because I drop FPS and die during every encounter. Hopefully it is something that can be ameliorated as it was working better pre patch.
