Although I won't get to this anytime this week (most likely right after, however), there is one thing I'd like to state:

The best thing to do in this game is to fill up all 24 character slots and then take them through all of the vendors. This is because vendors can sometimes sell an item with three linked sockets, colored red, green, and blue, which results in a chromatic when vendored back to them.

No, it's not the best thing to do. But if you're new to the game, this can help begin a flow of currency for you to work with and it helps with coloring sockets on gear. And it can be done at little to no cost to you aside from your time. To help with this, get:
30% movement speed boots or Shavronne's Pace (35% speed on full life)
2x Screaming Eagle weapons (10% speed each)
Karui Ward amulet (10% speed)
Foxshade chest (10% speed)
Peregrine or Rat's Nest helmet (10% each)

This will net you ~80% movement speed. No, it may not be the best, but it's the best quality of life you can achieve if you go between 24 characters to get as many chromes from vendors as possible.
