Nevergrind - Free Browser RPG
This game is pretty decent for what it is - a browser RPG. I can't say I've played a better browser RPG. There is some complexity in the combat system, itemization and character development as well as general strategy required with certain classes to win certain fights.
If you're looking for an RPG to login from anywhere and blow some time, this is a cool game to play. The game isn't as deep as PoE, but nobody should expect that from a browser RPG. Also, the game is not pay-to-win either. They do microtransactions in a similar way that PoE does, like selling character and bank slots. $10 gets you a ton of character slots and bank tabs. And that's perfectly reasonable IMO. Of course I've heard people say "the game is dead, so it must suck", but the mainstream has never set the standards for games I enjoy anyway. The game is really new, and they're a small development team that raised a kickstarter, and they've made a decent game. They likely don't have the resources for promotion so word of mouth is pretty important. Also, they're more receptive to player input than GGG is. We still don't have a self found leave in PoE. Guess what? I moved to nevergrind's self found league. They even got a ladder the same way D2 and PoE does. Here is one of my characters, an Ogre Shadow knight: http://nevergrind.com/nevergrounds/index.php?character=Rathdaar Got a Wizard too: http://nevergrind.com/nevergrounds/index.php?character=Regulus I'm in the process of swapping some gear around, and that's why there are empty slots. But yeah, that's a lot of depth for a browser RPG. TL;DR - the game doesn't suck, and you should try it if you're a fan of ARPGs. The reason I don't come back to PoE isn't because I don't enjoy the core mechanics of the game, but because I hate dealing with economies, and I also hate that they resort to completely gutting builds that I've invested a lot of time in. Which is why I quit in the first place. I'm hoping for a time when PoE slows down a bit and they stop being so nerf bat happy vs anything that's really good, and then I might make my return. I'm still keeping my eye on the how the game's progressing, and I'm still interested in the game. Just not to the point of dedicating a bunch of time to it. And unfortunately PoE is one of those games you either dedicate your hobby to, or you don't play it because you'll never get anywhere. I had to grind for an entire month with a sporker who had 350/100 IIR/IIQ before I had enough resources to make a viable end game build who was completely gutted in the following patch. GGG - stop doing that please. Last edited by MrSmiley21 on Jun 14, 2015, 5:57:06 PM
