How to Pledge of Hands?

Hey everyone!

I'm pretty new to PoE (started about 6 weeks ago) and I'm currently (once again) at a loss. I've only got a single char and that's a Crit Arc Witch, lvl 86 right now. A little while ago, someone said it would be fun, to get a legacy Cloak of Defiance and a Pledge of Hands and start getting them six-linked. So I got myself a Cloak some time ago and never really thought about the Staff since it was pretty much out of my financial league enyways.
So today I actually found one, a good one too, and I wonder if it's really a smart idea to get it 5L or 6L and start using it.

Also, I don't really know how to do this. Am I supposed to use it 6L and use my chest 5/6L too? do i actually need two six-linked skills? Right now I wouldn't know, how to use Clairity, Herald of Ice and Lightning Warp. And if not, should I get my chest to be double 3L, so that I don't lose sockets?

Help would be appreciated. This is my current gear.

just check this build.

A 6L PoH gives you an insane strong 7L Spell (lv 30 spell echo on the item), so you can stack damage in the sockets. The chest part can be used for a fancy CWDT setup or a curse/dualcurse or a Aura linkage. I would use Clarity, Purity of Lightning, Purity of ele and maybe haste, according to your skilltree. You can add Discipline for Haste or some other auras.
If you do this, i would use 3 different CWDT setups for more survivability, and you can stack more IIR/IIQ to your gear.

How would a good Curse/Dualcurse setup look like? Sorry, as I said, I'm pretty new and these things don't really mean much to me yet^^

Would it make sense to put my Clairity, Herald of Ice, Reduced Mana combo in the chestpiece and add another 2 gems (which ones?!), use the free socket for Arctic Armour and put Lightning Warp, Reduced Duration, Faster Casting (and one more?!) into the Gloves?

Wouldn't three different CWDT setups consume way too many sockets? And how am I supposed to run the auras you named and the two heralds? Is that even possible?^^

Should I get Voidbringers?

First: i was like you: using 1h+shield, i was lucky and get my cloak of defiance 6L ...then i went rich so i bought myself a 6L pledge.

It's an awesome weapon, really. But i don't need my 6L cloak anymore.
Sure i could found a way to use all of its sockets, but what for? i feel it like a waste for a 35/45ex item.

I already use double curse on helmet* (thanks to corrupted amulet), auras on gloves, cwdt on boots. So i only need lightning warp/vaal gems on chest.

If you are new, i won't advise you to 6L your chest. Just 6S it and make some links you will change while you define your needs.

I currently play with herald of ice/thunder and clarity. I could add other, but would have trouble keeping a high unreserved manapool to take dmg + move + dps (currently ~2500).

Voidbringer gloves are awesome if you can sustain the increase mana cost of arc +5 support gems while maintaining arctic armour (not mentionning the 40% dmg taken by manapool).

It can be done, i use them, but the manacost have been a little troubling at first.

*my curse setup: arc > curse on hit > assassin's mark > elemental weakness

It's my first time getting something 6L, is it normal that it takes over 300 Jewelers to get 6 sockets or am I just having very bad luck?

He started 6 weeks ago. I don't think he has 1500 fusings in reach ...

Well actually I don't think I'm too far away from that^^
I read that it greatly increases the chance of becoming 6L if the item's got 20% quality. Is that correct?
