Instead of using the life leech gem, why are you not looking for jewelry with life leech from physical attacks on it?

This indeed would be optimal.
However thus is a "budget" build
The jewellery is already tricky becoz u need resistances flat phys AND int/dex.
Adding life Leech to Thad list is going to make the jewellery EVEN more difficult to find,
And pretty expensive if ur planing on buying them.

But if u were to manage thad u would be able to add a added fire damage gem.
This would increase the dps a lot.
