I would assume not, but it's worth testing.
I got a question about Ondar's Flight boots

Does any1 know if i use Righteous Fire and lets say i have 84% fire rests (with +5% max resists passive node and lvl 20 purity +4 % max resists )

that means each second i would burn myself for 16% of my total hp and ofc with all the hp regen i can negate that - bla bla bla we've all seen the build of the week ....

Do i understand it correctly and with those boots i would get 9-10% of the dmg i do to myself with RF each second ?
which would be around 50 mana/sec with about 3k hp and we all know that build can get much more.

Just tested this. Didn't notice any difference in mana regen with the boots on compared to without (I have 6k life and about 300 mana so the mana gain granted by Ondar's should be significant).

I see , well maybe dmg to yourself isn't counted as dmg taken , guess we will never know :)
or that DoT doesn't count, bug or not, not sure.

This. It only applies to damage taken from hits. If people have suggestions for a concise description of the stat which makes this more clear, that could be helpful.
direct damage vs damage over time.

For Ondar specifically: X% of direct damage taken added to mana.

or alternatively

Whenever you receive a hit, add X% of it's damage to your mana.

"X% of damage taken added to mana (excluding over-time effects)."

Until a description that is both informative and nice sounding becomes thought up, I think having accurate and informing descriptions should take precedence over not-informative enough, nice sounding descriptions. This doesn't mean I think descriptions should be horribly long, but including key pieces of information, especially on unique effects should be a priority over having the whole thing roll off the psychological tongue.

This doesn't ask for a debate on what key information is, as we are talking within the context of unique effects on unique items, so it should be fairly obvious as to what I mean by 'key information'.

Just my opinion. <3 Looking forward to making my Diamond unique, but waiting till the wipe/open beta so that I don't design something that even I end up thinking is a waste of a drop. XD

We already use the word 'hit' for on-hit effects that are weapon/spell agnostic (like chance to shock on hit, life gained on hit, blind on hit) to differentiate it from damage over time.

We use the word 'gained' for LGOH's "Life Gained on Hit" stat in the character sheet.

So, something like faerwin's suggestion would be good.

"X% of damage gained as mana when hit".
