Have u tried elemental prolification instead of fork?if you did how did it work out? im starting to really dislike fork due to the way projectiles just fly off,yes they might hit stuff offscreen on certain angles, but i still don't like them ^^ Could people share more 4l 5l combos they are using?
I see you got Iron Will as support gem, though I don't get why. Any special reason?
Thinking about getting fireball too, for group purposes and rushing through easier maps, but I have no idea what to go for. Is fork that good? It just seems so random and you'd have to get mob groups set up in certain positions... I also saw you video criticising firestorm and it's AoE: You should try firestorm with increased duration, faster casting and concentrated effect (specing into area of effect basically just grants +/- 0 area effect). I got high quality duration so it doubles the duration, quality firestorm so more of those fire rocks are falling and with faster casting you can stack firestorms more quickly. Might not work with your build, but I find it insanely fun together with a Zombie + Skeleton spec and minion instability. Together with fire traps it rips through bosses and mob groups and I don't have to worry about kiting. Last edited by omgsupdude on Feb 14, 2013, 9:27:40 AM

" Getting an iLvL 50+ staff will allow you to get 6 sockets. It is much easier to 5L something once it has 6 sockets than 5(more possibilities) and it also gives the small possibility of getting that 6L which obviously you'd never have with a lower ilvl item. I'd suggest waiting, you'll only wish you HAD waited later on if you buy a lower one now. " Why use Iron will? For the spell damage bonus if my guess :P I have over 400 str and my quality iron will gives me 90%+ spell damage bonus. Sounds pretty good imo. Fork sucks, it's something to throw in there when you have nothing better to use atm. Use Iron will/Elemental proliferation/your choice. IGN - Dapper_The_Strapper

Well with that amount of strength it seems nice, yeah. But I couldn't find a lot of strength in his build/gear.

" Very true there likely isn't. I started Templar and not witch so I had access to a lot more. In that case it might not be as worth it unless it was high quality and you had nothing else to throw in. IGN - Dapper_The_Strapper

The Gem I've been looking at and wondering about is Culling strike. It's only a 110% mana change. At level 20/20 quality it gives 9% cast speed, 23% bonus damage And kills any target at 10%. For the cost that is actually a pretty nice gem. Most especially on boss kills. Not sure how that stacks up to other gems though.

I'm currently level 67 and using a variation of this build:
http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgMB37CCEAelAuNJsiycSRuvt4dlnC0fAjbF2CSnCJ2uGmzkIilPgpvUfOdqeuZ9U7aG3fNgbV3GRtfsODrYTdiMdp48gW8EsxRNAnHwH6IAVytr23NTwFR5Awj0MYhVrkSrj6YtH20ZwfOCHtsLoqN_xn5ZJ6labSQ8p1xJURzc45_UGbyfj0bQ0M9lVcYWbxJpFxxxeRmFJKo26eNqGjinhJBV So far it was a fun and effective build for me. My gear is pretty crappy still, which is why I decided to go for a more tanky version of the build. This helped me out a lot in Act 3 Merciless and I still do massive damage via molten shield and burn using only a 3-link Searing Touch. I've got an ilvl 60 ST but so far I had absolutely no luck with getting more than 4 Sockets on it (already wasted like 46 Jewellers lol). And even with those four Sockets, I've only been able to link 3 of them, using like 15 fusings. I guess I'll just wait for someone to sell a 6 socketed Searing Touch T_T. Anyways the build seems great so far damage wise and there is still much untapped potential waiting for me in the passive tree. As my gear is getting better I plan on getting the easily available 21% Spell Damage + 40% Mana Regen and 30% Fire damage next, which I opted to leave out in favor of more survivability. I wouldn't say that this build is squishy at all. Like Pohx said his build is a template and if you think you're too squishy to progress then you either need to adjust your build to get those life/armor nodes first and go for the damage later (like I decided to do); or you need to farm a few levels and upgrade your gear. I use Molten Shell with increased duration and concentrated effect. This gives me an insane armor boost. Together with Determination and capped out resists you're actually really tanky with this build, while still doing very respectable damage via Molten Shell and Burn from Fireball. You do have to watch out for reflect though, as the damage from Molten Shell can basically one-shot you if you kill a whole group with reflect. Other than that I find myself face-tanking just about anything, if I really feel like doing that. Most of the time I just one or two-shot mobs from a whole screen-distance away using Fireball-LMP-Pierce (3 link ST for the win!! zzzzz). One thing that gets a bit annoying is that many of the good farm areas have mobs with fire resist. But then again if you have a 4L/5L ST you can just use a quality Firepen support gem, which in combination with Flammability Curse basically solves that problem. I was thinking about going elemental equilibrium as well but I'm not really convinced that this would be a good idea. I would appreciate it if someone who tried this can give their input. So yeah overall I would say the biggest difficulty with this build is getting that 5L / 6 Socket Searing Touch and a high quality fireball. I feel like these two things are really important, yet hard to obtain (at least for me). Other than that I'm having a "blast" with this build so far. I think that's a rather fitting description. Just started doing some solo maps and haven't had any trouble so far. I'll report again when I reach higher level maps (which some people seem to be so afraid of with this build). Okay nice wall of text I wrote here. TL;DR: I'm lvl 67, using tanky variation of this build, as linked above. ST/high qual. Fireball can be difficult to obtain. First maps going well so far. Will report progress on higher-level maps once I get there. Thanks Pohx for posting your build/gear. I hope you will return to streaming PoE soon. Last edited by Tattioff on Feb 14, 2013, 12:29:04 PM

" I've literally tried everything with firestorm, even going down to Concentrated + Faster casting + Duration + Iron will, and the damage just scales so bad, I have no clue why lol. Firestorm is great for leveling but once it hits maps it just doesn't seem comparable to an lmp/gmp fireball

Can you please post the passive tree your using, besides the templates? as a term of comparison...
It would be great to see how much you changed the actual initial design... |
