Why is everyone saying that bow attack speed doesn't affect minions?

When I equip a Quill Rain, I count twice as many attacks from my mirrors before they expire. Did they patch it?

I want to add that I've been using Elemental Equilibrium to great effect on this build. The main requirement is a physical bow/quiver - preferably infractem.

Use Ice Shot (infractem's pierce works really well here) to proc elemental equilibrium on your enemies. Run Generosity + Wrath + Anger for your minions dps.

Furthermore, you can put Curse on Hit + Projectile Weakness + second curse of choice on Ice Shot.

Bam, a single Ice shot will pierce the whole mob & apply EE + 2 curses on it. Your mirrors will clean up with fire + light damage.

The best part of this setup is that you ONLY NEED TO APPLY EE ONCE. You don't have to keep spamming your EE trigger, because you will deal no fire/lightning damage yourself (thanks to Generosity). This means more time running away and staying safe.

Did someone thought about using Mirror Arrow with Ranged Attack Totem ?

It fire the arrow and pop clone like you would have use the skill. It has the cooldown, but it repeats it when it is ready. With mirror, the totem keep where it is, and pop clone. With blink, the totem is teleported at destination and leave the clone... much like a lightning warp totem, it is quite unrielable as it wander around and got easily lost... even if it move once every 3s.

With Ancestral Bond, you could have 2 to 4 (with just the duration on tree) more clones. You could still have curse on hit but you lose Elemental Equilibrium (wich is bad in party anyway).
The counterpart doesn't seems that bad for this many more clone. (and for the lol, soul mantle for third totem :) ... provided you get those green socket on it).

i think most people mean attack speed nodes on the tree dont affect the clones, which they dont. bow attack speed does.

and yes, EE is amazing, i need to add more about it in the main post.

my issue with totems is the speed at which they die, and the amount of points on the tree youd have to invest to make them worthwhile has kept me from trying it out. it could work, provided the numbers you may be able to get, it would require more testing.
If you want them safe, put them behind with mirror arrow.
It is not really much costly in points since you go near minion instability. I have sacrified some survivability because 2 totem and 4 more clone make more decoy and living shield :)
Don't know if you can reach a good dps with those, but still, that's 4 more yourself.
The think I found horrible is that you have to wait the cooldown of the skill to place another totem, seems like a bug to me. Another minus is that you can no longer leech, but I use Infractem... so nothing bad here, and totem are not call up by convocation.
I have a 4 link on deerstalker for trap, 4 link on gloves for totem, 4 link on chest for manual ones, 4 link on alpha howl for aura... that let my last 4 link for a curse on hit, with split arrow. I don't have 6L and only since multiple traps and totem use one slot, all my clone have only 2 gem to support them at max... so poor :'(

Has anyone tried making a Stun build ?

Get Craghead and Stun support gem (~75% threshold reduction total. After 75% stun threshold, there are diminishing returns, anyways). With 6-9 mirrors up, you should have an incredibly high chance to permastun.

Of course, this requires you to sacrifice a slot for the Stun gem, and you lose a bit of DPS via quiver. However, if enemies are permastunned, you have more flexibility on the skill tree to spec out of other defensive nodes.

Can anyone advise why sunblast isn't being used with this?
I would think that the ability to pop off all 3 traps repeatedly would be awesome...
I believe Sunblast's reduced duration is counteracted by the increased duration nodes on the tree. It would take too long to wait for trap detonation to be viable. Also, the stats are pretty terrible for survivability.

if you use herald of thunder with curse on hit then when your clones crt would it trigger heralds thunder coming down around them, and would those curse? might be a good way to trigger

Made it to level 51 with this build, all self found which is difficult to say the least!

Love the build and please keep the new information/ideas coming...I need to find a better quiver and bow to really see the true potential of the "Smith build"

Fun stuff and it's good doing something different than everyone else.

Btw....I am close to being at the level to use infractem bow, I just need to aquire one:)

So what type of quiver should I be looking for...in other words, what mods are best to have on the quiver?
