My fight against micro (or macro) freezes
no that you shouldnt upgrade your gfx.. (as i play on my intel hd4000)
but you really could use a bit more ram also, you dont mention what o/s you have, im going to guess win7, you also dont mention if you have any ram slots left, hopefully you have 2 more, and put in another 2 sticks of 2 gig for 8gig total, of if you really were thinking about keeping this machine longer, and the board supports it, get 2 sticks of 4 gig, and then you can make a decent server out of it later. priority? if you really only play games? get a better gfx card, then some ram, if you use your pc for more than just office and internet, get more ram, then gfx card.. if you can afford both, then you'll think you got a new PC Things with "increased" and "decreased" in the tooltip are additive ... where as "More" or "Less" are multiplicative ... It's not the ram, game doesn't touch half my ram. As people have stated, the game doesn't handle texture caching right on ATI cards.

" Yeah i've seen that topic and i'd really like to try but i only have 2 memory slots and no access to a 2x4gb mem right now. " I'd really love the SSD to solve that issue since it's a good "long-term" investment compared to a gfx/proc combo but my problem is when i'm seeing posts like that : http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/65141 It looks like he has a similar issue, but he's having a SSD, tried with a ramdisk and still freezes. " I'm on Win7 64bits. I'm using 3GB total when playing PoE. I don't have any free mem slots. I don't agree with your investment strategy. "It definitely seems so. I've grabbed a list of ati cards having the same issue (according to the player) : 4200 4800 i7 2600k 3.4ghz 4850 Win7 64 bits 5150 5650 5400 5700 i7 / 8gb ram, win7 64 bits ultimate 5750 5850 5870 i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz / 16gb ram / Win7 64 bits Ultimate 6670 6850 OC 7850 7870 i7-3770k / 16gb ram / Win7 64 / SSD 7970 It worth checking those related topics : http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/83984 http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/29234 http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/61635 http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/65141 As for my investigation, i've tried : * 800*600 * vsync on/off * -gc1 -gc2 * --nosound * windowed/fullscreen My graphic card specs : DxDiag : http://pastebin.com/1zKkRXu7 I also monitored some stuff while playing : Edit : I'll try the new ATI drivers this evening : http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst132BetaDriver.aspx Last edited by Caramoun#5411 on Feb 8, 2013, 10:46:21 AM

If you are having the same issue check this global ATI thread instead : http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/142392
