Hi, first of all, thx for the guide
the skill is very fun
although i was wondering what do you think about the support gem light penetration ? have you tested it ?

also, why do you take increased critical damage instead of increased critical strike ? or power charge on critical ?

Light penetration is great against bosses or in PvP. Against normal map monsters it's not as good as the other support gems because we use elemental weakness for -47 res.

I don't need pcoc linked to LT since I use ass mark and ice spear-pcoc and doedres flask for power charges.

Inc crit dmg is still more DPS than inc crit strikes, though now the difference is smaller and you can decide for yourself whether you want a higher mean dps with more variance or lower mean dps with less variance.

Inc crit stirkes may be the better choice for real world clear speed, I haven't tested yet.

ok thx !
maybe you have some advice for a new player ? it's my first caster character and i feel very squishy right now (a3 merciless)
i have around 2.1k life :/

This build is somewhat of a glass cannon build so it will always feel squishy, it really will open up once you get VP and leech though. The main thing is your trying to kill everything else before it kills you.

This is correct. I added a section to the OP called "clarification for new players" that basically explains this.

I don't undersand this one. Foes can have negative resistances, so it's always +35% dmg and 10% lightning dmg from quality.

If we do 100 dmg to a enemy with -47 res, it will take 147 dmg. If we do 100 dmg to an enemy with -47-35=-82 res it will take 182 dmg. 182/147 = 23% more dmg due to light pen, and we can do better with another support gem.

Playing this build @ 84 I've gotten through the glass cannon phase. I'm now at almost 4k HP w/ Vaal Pact and capped res (78% lightning). No problem doing high level maps, reflect is not a problem as I kill fast enough to have perma Atziri/Lightning flask up.

Currently @ 35k dps but running 50% crit it's a screen clear on cast. You do not need to prioritize damage nodes on the tree, LT base damage is insane already. Honestly anything over about 20k is fine for speed clearing maps with a skill that is 1/2 screen AOE coverage (instant).

I'm in Torment btw.

(Current RIP counter - 8, most deaths due to reflect in my 60s when I would precast LT on lockboxes)

Yeah, there are a few things you can swap to get rid of the glass cannonness of the build. For example dropping the second curse and using PCoC, you lose a little damage that way but it means you can get a better ring which helps with resists and life and will help a lot. The same goes with the gloves, you can drop maligaros and get a good pair of rare gloves and you will honestly not lose that much dps and gain a huge amount of survivability.
My TORMENT gear below

I strongly recommend chasing LIFE + MANA REGEN (Need high AA) when building out your tree. I picked up crit chance next (multi is actually more damage but you really don't need damage, you need consistency)

3.9k life
max res (78% light)
Vaal Pact
LL Gem (mandatory)

what do you think about using CoD/CoD+AA in terms of defense? we have good mana regen in total. also we can warp through the map so the drawback of high leveled AA won't be noticed.
