I actually don't mind using spells. I've watching youtube vids about Glacial Cascade, and it's pretty much the same as Ground slam (only with more mechanics). That said, with GS, I was actually "casting", and not directly hitting enemies in the face at melee range.

(Glacial Hammer + Multistrike was starting to feel fun, and I was testing it out with Melee Splash).

Incinerate is, ... a bit boring I think (ofc my own opinion), as in --> just standing and firing a fire spitting hose VS using a big bad-ass 2h mace hitting mobs in the face multiple times. Also, party-wise, it's.. you know. Curious, how does Glacial Cascade look in a party? Does it clutter the screen so much? But I bet not so much as Incinerate do!

I'm about to decide to go with ZiggyD's EK + MoM + EB + always-on AA. Just because I want a toon that hopefully won't rip so helplessly. But EK is ... hmmmm, is there any other alternative spell?

Whata are skills that is easy to scale the DPS just like EK? I'll try to do my homework more. Any help with this is greatly appreciated!
