[1.2] Ventor's Crit Arc/Lightning Tendrils Caster Build. [UPDATE]: NEW TEMPEST SHIELD VIDEO

Hello and welcome to my Crit Arc/Lightning Tendrils build thread.

This build works extremely well with lightning tendrils as well. Swap out faster casting for inc AOE and it runs perfectly.

Currently sitting at 8.3k ES / 82k Arc DPS (Self buffed only) / 66% Block + 27% spell block

The new updated version of this build incorporates tempest shield linked with Life leech gem and power charge on crit to make a Aegis Aurora type effect. It's REALLY powerful with Atziri's Acuity but still very strong without them. (Tempest shield crits are instant full ES)

This is currently a level 100 point tree. However, you may choose which points to remove to fit your playstyle. Most of the Aura/ES nodes are not required for the build to work in full effect. You can choose how many of each to remove to fit your level.

Leveling(50 points) -- Use CI as you level and until you get shavs.

My gear:


My 6 link explanation
1. Arc - Duh.
2. lvl 4 Empower. (level 3 also works fine) This is a crucial gem in the build since it bypasses Arc's 50% damage effectiveness and provides Arc with a massive boost in DPS. Also, having a red gem to swap out for life leech (when needed) is a nice bonus.
3. Lightning penetration. Self explanatory gem here. It's also amazing with Arc because it bypasses Arc's 50% damage effectiveness as well.
4. Spell Echo. This gem makes the build possible to be honest. It provides an insane damage boost to Arc and makes it sustainable on a limited supply of mana and mana regeneration.
5. Faster Casting. Scales really well with Arc. (No effectiveness penalty)
6. Increased Critical Damage. The amount of damage you gain from this gem is just too much to pass up.



Tempest Shield: Since tempest shield has a really high base crit (6%) and scales really well off of spell damage, it provides excellent damage against any enemy which you block. Linking it with life leech allows all blocked attacks to instantly refill your ES pool. It is effectively another type of Aegis Aurora and is much more powerful. With high block chance, you are basically immortal to most monsters.

**FAQ**

1. WHY CRIT ARC?!
---Although this seems like a bad idea at first glance, if you are able to achieve a reasonable crit % through gear/passives, the damage scaling begins to take off dramatically. Due to the fact that Arc has a 50% damage effectiveness, I feel not going crit is a big mistake since crit bypasses that 50% damage effectiveness and scales well.

2. Why not use a staff with +1 level of gems and +2 lightning gems?
---Simply put, for ES, a good wand + shield is just plain out better in the trade off vs any staff alternative. Also, the updated build is centered around using block+tempest shield for immortality!

Im assuming that getting the unwavering keystone is only viable if you have a VERY good amulet to replace the Eye of Chayula.

It costs 12 points to get down to that keystone and the only benefit is freeing up an amulet slot.

I feel like for most people - an Eye of Chayula and spending those skill points to make up the DPS loss from other nodes is going to be better.

Yeah, of course. Using an eye of chayula with lightning leech is also really nice. Or you can go with lioneye's boots. It's up to the player to make that decision and adjust the build accordingly.

Yeah, that's because you're getting hit hard by Arc's 50% damage effectiveness. All spell damage/flat damage added to Arc is halved because of it.

Thanks for the information, never realised. Sadly I've currently only got 13Ex (plus about 5 ex worth of other currency). I imagine I'd need a lot more than that to make this build remotely usable....one day!

Well, I guess you could do a life based version while using rathpith but using a staff makes you far less tanky. I really don't like staffs for casting.

Looking forward to see more videos of the current build, mb u can do a atziri/uber. And do you think it will be possible to kill uber without the atziri gloves and with Eye of Chayula. i would assume it may be less dps compared to ur legacy amulet u are using, im asking becouse im trying this build in rampage.

Also perhaps you could show what flask seyup you are using. For example what flask setup you would use for maps/atziri.

Do you have enough mana to cast herald of thunder once it's out? and which gem will you drop?
