I just want to ask why you feel instant leech is necessary. I mean for blood rage, with a bit of chaos resist and some life regeneration, all of which can be found in the marauder and templar tree, you should be able to actually have positive life regen.

I have -20 chaos resist and 4.8 regen from the tree and i outregen blood rage, no pots or leech. At that point blood rage becomes a free buff.

Thing is, bro, most don't like to run life leech gems on melee phys builds. You miss out on a whole ton of potential damage.

Sure, it works but it isn't very optimal and you can do a lot better.
For try, for see, and for know.

This is a buff
It's not that it doesn't work, you're just gimping yourself when there are simply better alternatives. You're forced into using a life leech gem, so you're effectively at a 5 link. Life flasks don't help you so much as they just prevent blood rage from massacring your life (one of few benefits life builds even had over CI).

Without acuity's there will be some point where a string of misses especially on enfeeble maps you will suddenly stop flickering in the middle of a pack because you are OOM. Unless your have godlike reflexes the combination of BR wrecking your life with the pack attacking you will almost certainly mean death in high level maps. You face the same problem in desynch scenarios, except even worse because quickly flasking wont even save you then.

If you want to do what you're doing CI is not only way better but it's almost necessary for high level grind without consistently dying

I see what your saying. I'll test to see what happens if I drop vaal pact and pick up another regen node, however I just cleared my last courtyard map without any hiccup (except for the fact that i didnt get any maps in return).

What I like about vaal pact is when I crit I heal back to full, and with 6 power charges my crit % is 86 so I'm at full health throughout the flicker chain. I used to have problems when I would "stall" out and die, e.g. out of frenzy charges for flicker, or oom, but I haven't had those problems for a while (after finding the mana flows node and taking mental fortitude).

When I get back today I will experiment with dropping lifeleech and vaal pact and see if I stay alive. If I do I'll just pop in added fire I think (any suggestions?).

So I just tested dropping vaal pact, and the lifeleech gem. You were absolutely right, the lifeleech is more that enough to sustain the flicker chain. However, setup like that you have to be very careful with reflect. You can opt for crit chance, or added fire damage instead of the lifeleech gem (any other ideas welcome ofc).

I dont have any mana problems with my current build at all, and as I mentioned in my build guide CI would be best, but very expensive to do.

I've been thinking. It may be better to pop blood magic in for added fire damage. You could then run HoA on mana and you could drop the three -mana cost nodes and spec those into more damage. Although the build is working really well for me at the moment, I'll further update after I've experimented with it some more.

Yeah, you will definitely have to combat reflect, that's why I suggested an immortal call set-up. My build rolls with a 20+ second IC, it's still really fluid gameplay with flicker
