Why added cold and not faster casting?:
For a few reasons. Mana is hard to sustain as is and the build has more than enough cast speed. Green is just easier to roll as the 6th socket. Most of all though it offers great versatility as you can use Mana Leech, Blind, Culling Strike, Faster Projectiles and added cold all depending on your needs.

It also has the defensive benefit of chilling most monsters and freezing/shattering white once.

Currently level 88 in Beyond with this build and it's working great, clearing 77+ maps effortlessly and got my Abaxoth and Atziri kills easily. DPS is solid, bosses melt in second even I'm only running a 5-link and I'm feeling quite safe as any damage that gets past block is leeched up immediately.
