I've tried Herald of Thunder, and it is indeed a dps boost, but how do you shock exactly? I don't see any lightning damage on your items.

Herald of thunder add you some ligthning dmg to your spell, and because i crit i shocK.
You can see in the dps screenshot 22-361 ligthning dmg on my fp.

And freezing pulse is a spell flat dmg on your gear do nothing

Thanks, I thought the "Cannot apply shock" applied to everything on HoT (including the added lightning damage to spells).

nop only the lightning bolt cant shock, but you you can shock with ur attack.

Wouldn't Berek's Grip be nice with this build(http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Berek's_Grip)?

I'm 72 so far with this build, and I'm liking it. I'm just "stuck" for a few levels right now until I get Vaal Pact and a bit more HP, because I couldn't find a 5L Cloak of Defiance that fits in my budget (so I sometimes have issues with hard hitting mobs).

For lvling maybe but not for endgame, this ring instead of life leech gem Will really reduce your survability
When you have good dmg if you want not kill you on reflect you need life leech gem because the first hit monster are not shock freez. Sometimes big boss in High lvl Map are not perma freez like dominus.
And if you want run High lvl aa without discipline you need mana regen on your ring.
And ring are a good for get your res, dex ...

you can do something like that, but its depend how you feel your char i mean if you feel squishy take more life first, or take more dmg if you feel you are tanky enougth
