The Spectrel Gods ( A Summoners Guide ) [Updated 4/22][Now with video!]
I never considered using a melee spectre. What would you use instead of GMP? Increased melee damage?
Quality Zombie gem also helps. my zombies have 10056 hp atm am sure with +2 zombie hp it will be near 15k(by the time am your level) or when I level it up more. Maybe when am past your current level its going to be like over 20k with + minion helm? Sounds scary that things can still blow up a potential 20k hp zombie. Side note: I noticed when I conversion trap a rare mob his aura is huge. I converted a energy shield one and I gained almost 3k ES. I wonder if a purity rare have very high resist. Wikipedia has a huge list of spectre to try out (gonna be busy later trying them all and testing them) Also projectile weakness is a potential great curse for projectile spectres, giving them knockback and pierce. These stats and one-shots in maps...? Omg...
Playing a similar style for a long time now. Btw can't recommend GMP on sentinels, if all projectiles hit its just 50% dmg increase, and that most likey doesn't happen. Got rid of Inner Force, the buffs doesn't increase what your minions get. It does however give u a nice energy shield but honestly I rather use those nodes to get even more hp.

I really like the concept behind this build, I always loved my Necromancer in D2. I have a few questions though.
How beneficial/detrimental would it be to upon hitting oh... level 50 or so, dropping all HP nodes and grabbing ES nodes with CI? How much of an issue is Chaos damage with your minions absorbing damage? |

I will add a bit about CI.
Problem with CI build is that you have 0 armor means taking very high damage from physical mobs. Charger type mobs will go through all minions directly to you, often stunning and killing in place. Chaos is not dangerous if you have high hp pool, but there are bleed type mobs (i dont know if they do chaos or phys dmg) if they hit you its often 100% death even if you spam insta flasks. I prefer hp + def + chaos res on gear for more safety. Nice write-up. Almost missed this gem due to all the new summoner threads popping out of nowhere (and me ignoring them all :P).
One big downside of a build like this is the fact, that you have to constantly worry to lose spectres. All minions are easily replaceable except spectres, which can really be annoying. You know this of course, I just think it's worth mentioning in the cons-section. Why no love for Haste Aura? I think it's a big one, way better than Hatred, since you rely mainly on your ranged mobs anyway (for pewpew that is). And even the tanks benefit greatly from movement speed and attack speed. QD is sexy, but I can't see a way to compensate for the stat loss of a kite shield (or any shield for that matter). Later on with super-uber-gear this might work. But with no way of skilling resistances you place yourself in a dangerous spot. As a final note, I'm still uncertain what to think of Leadership. The radius of auras is constantly growing but I find my minions out of range occasionally. Just can't decide if it's worth 3 points. Any further insight on that one? |
