[1.2] EB+MoM+AA Firetrapper - Safe, fast clear speed, cheap and fun!
Introduction
This is my firetrapper that I have been working on for a while now. Have tried multiple versions and this one seems to have the most success atm. It's a little different then most versions, but has its pros and cons like any other build.
The trees and leveling
Here is my current tree @ level 83 And here is the path I plan to follow to level 90, and 100. For leveling, I leveled with Flameblast and Firetrap, until I got some trap nodes and just relied on firetrap for about 90% of my damage, only using flameblast for single target harder stuff. This would be an example of a level 60 tree, just grabbing survivability along the path. Keep in mind that you will need to pick up a 30 point dex node and wear a +dex necklace to keep Firetrap leveled. You should be leveling it (actually, i would level 2) at all times.
Stats and tooltips
Coming later!
The links and gems
(In order of priority) Fire Trap + Chance to Ignite + Elemental Proliferation + Fire Penetration + Concentrated Effect + Increased Burning Damage Trap + Flame Surge + Concentrated Effect + Fire Penetration + Added Chaos Damage + Empower Cast when damage taken + Enduring Cry + Immortal call + Increased Duration Clarity + Discipline + Reduced mana + Vaal Lightning Trap Arctic Armour + Enhance + Empower + Elemental Weakness / Flammability
The gear
Required for end-game mapping pieces
Cloak of Defiance +2/3 fire gems staff. The perfect staff would have t1 spell damage, t1 fire damage, +2 fire gems, +1 all gems, t1 max mana and t1 mana regen. We don't need cast speed.
Other options and stat allocation
The Searing Touch - Not completely optimal for this build, but is it nice with the extra burning damage. I would use it over what I am using atm, but not over a +3 level staff with good rolls on spell damage. Pyre - Nice to have extra burning damage on an item. Its essentially like having 2 increased burning damage gems slotted, if you can handle the loss of life. I currently have one, I just haven't balanced my resists around to try it out yet - though I do plan to. Sunblast - Another one of those items that you gain damage in exchange for loss of life. It is a flat damage increase for both of your main trap abilities - although you can get 10-20% trap damage from a crafted mod, so its up in the air. For armour types, you are looking for hybrid armour/energy shield or pure armour items. Anything that you can get % Fire damage / Spell Damage, Maximum mana, and/or Mana regeneration on, get it. Remember, we don't need cast speed. Craft 10-20% trap and mine damage to a well rolled, dual resist leather belt. Tora allows you to do this.
My current gear
Weapon swap is leveling gems and culling strike+bear trap+IIR

Changed the gem orders a little bit, after testing and advice from a guildie it seems that fire pen does a lot better for end / mid game mapping then increased burning damage. So, it's jumped in priority from 6th.
Also forgot to add Arctic armour links. Mess with the best, die like the rest.

Looks interesting, hard to tell without any videos etc though
How well does it play in parties, I've wanted to roll a trapper but haven't found one I like so far IGN shdowe

Play this build 45 lvl, very fun and easy. Thank's.
How do you think mind drinker and blood drinker work with that elemental trap build? Mind drinker and blood drinker leechs 2% physical damage as mana/life. Maybe reset that passives? Thank you for answer. |

" Pretty sure he's getting Blood and Mind drinkers' for the extra life and mana %, not the leech. IGN shdowe
