Peeps 1.2 Angry Pillar God (CoMK) Ground Slam & Fire Storms from Hell




I first made this as a Templar but currently am a Marauder. Either or can do it perfectly.

Angry Pillar God build is back and better than ever with all the changes 1.2 brought us.

The new buffs:
Cast on Melee Kill @ 100% per kill and increased spell damage.
Herald of Ash introduced to game.
Crafting Benches allow more Strength stacking.


The Concept:
Combine Pillar of the Caged God with Cast on Melee Kill with Ground Slam and Fire Storm to destroy everything in your path, maybe a pc or two as well!
Both Templar and Mara can do this build. The build can start being used at level 19. It can go through the core game with just a 4L. You will want a 5L or 6L to do endgame, depending how far you would like to take it.

The History:

I tried a few spells, Glacial Cascade, Light Nova and Firestorm, EK, Flame Surge, Ice Spear & Arc. Once I tried Firestorm is was clear that was the right gem to use. The thing Firestorm had going for it that the others didn't is the mechanic of it centering its AoE over the monster killed from Ground Slam. So your range is extended quite a bit, not to mention the extra AoE from the staff. I basically made sure the build took enough Int to equip a lvl 20 Firestorm and everything else Str. The best part of Firestorm is how much it can overlap. You get a firestorm for each killed mob.

Current DPS: HS-GS-FS Note the GS + FS combo DPS is very hard to calculate. Tool tip is almost useless. Can easily get 25 FS x 2 gems to go off, mileage will vary

What about killing bosses with no adds?
I use Heavy Strike for my single target. Im currently lvl 76 with 21k dps on Heavy Strike
HS Links HS, Added Melee, Added Fire, Multi Strike. 5th L is Faster Attacks.

Auras:
I currently run Hatred and Herald of Ash & Grace. I decided to get some aura nodes to run all 3.

Curses:
I use Warlords Mark. You get leech from your GS and FSs and gives you endurance charges. Also helps with stuns which is nice cause our 2 main skills, GS & HS both stun quite a bit. Helps make up for the Abyssus

How to deal with mana:
I use a -8 ring and amulet. So I don't need to run clarity or take any mana nodes.

Help, I feel squishy!
Make sure you take IR
Use 2 granite flasks
Get a high armor chest
Run Grace
Curse with Warlords Mark for all damage leech and full endurance charges. I think I will pick up the 2 extra endurance charges from the tree as they are easy to get.

I currently have 50% DR with grace and can get another 20% from endurance charges. Granite flasks take you to or close to cap.

Does doubling up on the same spell actually work with CoMK? I'm currently running a character through normal to test this build. Considering I 1-shot things between Pillar and Meginords and flat damage jewellery, the firestorm is already pretty ridiculous.

I am trying this build atm. Currently in act 3 normal.
Running:
- Groundslam+CoMK+Firestorm+Firestorm
- Heavystrike+Multistrike
- Vaal Groundslam (vey useful atm)

With some flat phys dmg gear lvling is amazing. Insane killspeed. Was able to pull 3 other guys with me through act 2 without even noticing.

But besides the awesome look those double firestorms dont do that much at. Sometimes they kill some left over monsters but except I kill a lot of mosters in 1 hit to generate a shitton of firestorm it isnt really noticeable.

linking added fire/melee phys dmg/multistrike/faster attacks would just be so much better atm.
Maybe this'll change in later lvls... dunno will try more


I'll take those skill effect duration nodes to get high duration immortal call and to boost the firestorms even more...

So far really good, but I'am a bit sceptical regarding endgame... Probably a normal phys dmg groundslam build will be much better. but hey all you have to do is swap out the gems
I think thats why you aren't supposed to use 2 firestorms until you get a 6L, other support gems add a lot more damage. Throw a concentrated effect and an iron will if you got a 5L in there and it'll be a lot stronger.

What other alternative for a weapon for this build? At lower levels

Pillar itself only requires level 13, and works pretty well from that point onwards as long as its 20% quality and you have some flat phys on your jewellery.

As good as the build is for leveling now I am pretty sceptical whether it really works in lategame. I just saw your char sheet screenshots and you dont do 20k groundslam dps - thats heavystrike! Groundslam is at 3.5k!! And this is with Abyssus???

You'll never kill stuff in lategame with 3.5k dps to trigger the spells, especially not in party...


Really dunno whether I go on with that build...

The CoMK has to be linked with Iron will as soon as you get a 4L so it converts the str to magic dmg.
Anyone have any gameplay videos they could share of this build?
Im currently using blood magic passive for leveling, I am not sure that I can get mana regen with too much attack speed with multistrike

as I take a lot of physical damage from abyssus I need to run grace and get lot of armour even for city of sarn

but actually iron will is good,

I have some good gears (around 2k flat chest armour I have) but not an armour with strength for damage so I use the same foxshade

to deal with late game, I going for +3 endurance from tree, not sure, may be I will need another 25 regrets :(

With proper play style, I can deal with unique exiles, but if I am careless I even die in city of saran :(
