[1.2.0] AcroBlock BoR Viper Striker

Hi there and congrats on the research you've done and shared with us. I had a lvl 82 Empowered Vipermultisplasher Shadow (old VS style), a build I much enjoyed. Almost as strong as my current RF build. I decided to give 1.2 V.S. a try and see if I could respec my old shadow to the new passive tree (free 1.2 respec!) . Not much effort in the nodes.. Life, evasion acrobatics and all +chaos dots. Pretty much the same as my pre 1.2 build. I left out physicals and took some more movement. With new VS needs, I might need to get some dmg nodes too sometime. Not sure. But I'd like to say that your's was the build I got some great ideas for starting... Most interesting of all the BoR, Lazhwar and Atziri's Step ;)

Current Gear - testing

I like the 20% boost.
Ring for mana issues.
Gloves for mana issues.

changed with Wurm's Molt.
for mana issues.

I only used gear/gems I already had to see how things work. The foil is fast (8.4/sec with Haste_but gives medium dmg. I should buy a new one to boost vs to the limits. I also have this one

at 8.7/sec but the tooltip dmg drops by almost 50%...
I meet mana issues. I got ~6% mana leech from dps/phdps and -7 mana cost but still mana use is negative, especially if I manage to miss a hit or two. Maybe I should consider clarity. Not sure how to work this out.

Changing to this fast and good phDmg foil, the VS started to shine.
Spoiler

It nearly reminds me of the good old VS now. I guess what is most important to 1.2 VS is attack speed. What is unique in VS is the dot stacks applied and high initial damage is nothing if you don't get many dot applies as fast as possible. Balance is the key but one should aim for high speed first.

Note on Added Chaos Damage over Added Fire Damage. The +fire has way better impact on tooltip dmg, but the VS player should have in mind that fire damage has to burn all the monster's Energy Shield before damaging its life and kill it. Chaos damage strike right in the heart and so the killing will be way faster. Not sure yet which one is better in end game terms. Will need a bit of research.

So, my beyond-witch died and I want to play with my old OpenBeta Viper-/Doublestrike-Dagger-Shadow again...

Been looking at some trees, this one here looks good imo, taken some more crit nodes, and that new shield node in the centre is tempting. Command of steel with reflexes and sentinel nearby... but I guess I have to get to lvl 85-90 before reaching those :(

two questions:

Stone of Lazhwar:
Is spell block "taken from normal block" or is that additionally?
Currently, I'm using amulets like these

That stone offers "just" one good mod (ok, I could really need spellblock) but I'd give up a lot of stats, probably have to downgrade a few gems. Really worth it, if attack-block is halved?

Accuracy:
I'm at 80% hitchance with a mighflay at lvl 72. (yeah, I STILL didn't find anything better, I need more raw power ;))
You did not pick accuracy nodes. How much impact would these +35% have for 3 points? Maybe it's worth the investment, there are three alternatives with extra boni.
Dynamit,
Architekturkritik, die man tatsächlich sieht!

I too had a long forgotten beta-viper strike shadow whom I try to revive with the 1.2 version.
It seems a lot nerfed now. Still doing tests and my tree is more evasion-focused than damage dealing. I got 78% accuracy with 9.4 hits per second. Not sure if this means I hit 7/sec which in turn translates to 4 DOT applies per second. It seems a bit low but close to my ingame experience
Major issue is the mana when you got 2 auras running. I got 4% mana leech from my gear which is fine when I hit things.
Another issue are the lonelly bosses. You need to change the melee splash on the fly with a damage boost support to have the best possible DOT effect
An interesting issue is that mobs die off your physical dmg before you apply dot damage. This could mean that VS has real good use only for bosses.
After some tests, my gear has come to this setup:

Stone of Lazhwar is really helpfull for a ninja shadow. Still under heavy testing though... Another interesting belt choise would be

I too am currently using two mightflays (I'm going dagger build) and cannot find another knife other then binos for the future, would Mark of the Doubting Knight Platinum Kris be viable if i am going a crit build with mainly phys damage and dual wield?
I feel like the poison and bleed will stack nicely with the DoT.
Q- will the doubting knights poison stack with adders touch
Q- any opinion on the tree i made? https://poebuilder.com/character/AAAAAgYAsNii2cgU9W9qjBa_sbPtQaZ_tUjz6ioLcFKJ03DVXfIOSOOEdoK00cgMJpVh4lVLjDbAnKc09vxHBtDQUq-7Td1fZ_zYdrk-rGYs4X3jVvXbbpfQjoo2PeywjAu5fJ2qYqy0xcLsBbXUIzBx3ahLeDpCjb_d5xv2g73Win8rMHxRR_zFVvp31wqbeOvnCsHYqKKq-F5FkvP66__eJP3nVNN-73r-un11lWYDh3ByG61KfYd2Z6B6U2Hrz3qyGTIBmybo1jiWZFpc-bcX4l6T_OuOz-kuCJAbEZaaE3BW29RsjA==
Glad to see people are still interested and playing around with this!

A couple things that people have been talking about,

1) If you are going dagger and/or claw and/or crit, it is a VERY different build and not tooo much from mine is going to transfer over. Also, the Adders Touch DoT is not going to be a noticeable help. Trust me. It just isn't, sadly. It can't stack, does not do much, and the only mobs who live long enough to get a good amount of ticks off are Bosses that already melt.

2) I stopped swapping out Melee Splash. Bosses just MELT. It's not needed. Piety/Dom runs? Sure, you spent that long running there, swap the gem out. But map bosses? Pfft. No need. Still, good to level up a gem to swap out.

3) Stone of Laz is good. If you can work it in, the loss of stats is more than made up for with the fact that it can give you over 30% spell block alone. That is like another Phase Acro. If you want to survive in high maps, I recommend it.

Is a BoR necessary? I can't afford one but still want to play a build like this. I'm lv40 atm and can't decide between foils and daggers, could you list me the advantages of both?
I'm having a lot of fun with a version of this build. Don't have/Can't afford a BoR so I'm focusing a bit more on the melee splash and AoE. When I eventually get something with some mana leech on phys I'll be able to swap out some of the points that are in regen.

Here's my current tree:

I got really lucky and managed to 6L the Carcass Jack with only a few fusion so decided to work with it. For fast clearing I throw an increased AoE support on it and get an extra 60% with the chest, 10Q splash. For extra damage I can put on added lightning instead and swap out Herald of Lightning for the Tempest. Right now it's sitting at around 4.3k and I'm pretty survivable. Hasn't been too expensive so far. Everything except the Carcass and Doryani's I had before starting. I'm torn between using the Mirror and the Thousand Teeth. For now the extra resists and the evade on the Mirror are pretty helpful but my block caps out with the Thousand teeth. Once I get better gloves and rings with some I'll probably go for the higher block and extra reflect damage.
