"+2 melee weapon range" passive skill

Was playing arround the skill tree and cant decide is it worth taking that skill or not. Really, i have no clue. Is it pointless or not? How "long" is +2 range? If i took this skill i could hit enemies at greater distance, but if i didnt take i would spend like 0.2 sec walking closer to the enemy? Or character always comes at the same distance from the enemy, BUT when enemy tries to run away i can manage to hit him from further away? This skill is so "unclear", really dont know how good it actually performs in the battlefield. Experienced clarification would really help

EDIT:

How well would it go with one handed glacial hammer?

It's probably most useful when it's paired with Cyclone. See: http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Cyclone

As for walking to hit something, yeah you start hitting as soon as you get in range so getting more range makes you start hitting sooner. Can't say if it makes much of a difference though, I haven't played much with added range yet.

It makes sense with the cyclone. But for other skills guess it will probably save only less than 1 sec of "walking/running time" nothing more

after thinking about this a little bit more I have an idea about an almost unbeatable build in pvp against other melee characters with this +2 range :)

You'd need inhuman reflexes to make the +2 range actually matter in PvP.

it's great for kiting and hitting before being hit

I'm (maybe wrongly) Under the impression it increases melle range not only min target range, and thus AE attacks that are melle range (like cleave) would go "further" make it better with LGOH no?
think of it as giving you reach

No. Cyclone is the only Skill that uses Melee Weapon Range to determine base AoE Radius. Everything else is a flat AoE, and ignores Melee Weapon Range. (or single-target)

The idea is to have:

Two handed weapon,
+2 weapon range;
knockback;
fast attacks.

Stun would also help. Most melee attackers wont be able to get into close range to you at all. Ofcourse there are few skill who could break this attack, like flicker strike or leap slam
