Question about respec
I spent about 10 minutes looking for these answers, and in one place on these forums I did read that Orb of Regret only undoes one single skill node. However I thought that seemed pretty cruel. I actually have two questions. First, is it true that Orb of Regret only removes a single skill node? What if you want to completely remake your build from the ground up? At a high level that would require 70+ orbs?
Second question thatI could not find the answer to anywhere. How do you go about obtaining Orbs of Regret? And (aside from the few quests that award respec points) is there any other way to redo your build? I like to mess around with different builds and don't want to be cornered into a single build, but I don't have the time to level a new character each time I want to try a slightly different build. I currently have two respec points that I received from a quest. Do these respec points undo all my skill nodes, or only one? Last question: Is it possible to replay the quests that offer respec points? I would assume not. Sorry for so many questions, and great thanks to anyone who takes the time to enlighten me! Yes, Orb of Regret only counts towards the removal of one node.
If you want to totally respec a character, either reroll the character or farm orbs. Act III jeweler NPC sells Orbs of Regret, though pricey. No, you cannot replay the quests. Respec points only undo 1 node just like Orb of Regret. EDIT: Also, another ninja for me :P Peachii Last edited by Elynole#2906 on Feb 3, 2013, 12:00:06 AM

Orb of regrets give back one skill point. You would need 1 orb for each point to refund.
Orb of Regrets are drops from out in the world or you can trade for them. They only un-do 1 point per use orbs or quest reward respec points. You cannot re-do quests that give rewards. Your build is meant to be meaningful and take work to get it right and is not meant to be easy to re-spec. “Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”

One of the best things about PoE, in my opinion, is the fact that you CAN'T respec. It makes you think long and hard about what kind of character you are going to build. Playing and planning. Yes, you can get some points back here and there which is nice for some flexibility. To do a full respec would cost a fortune in-game and is nearly impossible once you're high level. Love the fact that GGG went this route. Respec's are for the masses and GGG seem to be dedicated, hardcore gamers. Keeping it old school.

Thanks a lot for the replies. I'm not totally against the fact that you can't fully respec, but it does make it rough for new players considering how mind-blowingly massive the skill tree is. I spent a good hour or two looking over as much of it as I could before I even spent my first point, but that does little good until you know exactly how the mechanics of the game work, what spells you'll be utilizing, and what passives and stats you want to use to accomodate your skill gem setup.
I fear I've already make some pretty brutal mistakes in speccing my character, but I definitely don't want to restart. I want to just keep going through the game, and preferably play the higher difficulties without rerolling a new one. As for these orbs, how rare of a drop are they? Is it so rare that it would in fact be more efficient to just reroll a level 60+? IGN: EmpathicAmoeba

Honestly this game might not be for you the fun is kind of in the making of multiple alts over and over to try new builds. If you cant be bothered to level more than 1 character your going to miss out on a lot of the magic of this game .

" Yeah, leveling a new char would most likely be faster. Although I highly doubt that any build you'll end up will be unsalvagable. Before you give your char up, you better ask for advice on the forums. Often you can save a mediocre build by just respecing ~20 points which should be covered by the respec points you get from quests and drops from leveling. |

A lot of people have been complaining about the difficulty of respeccing lately. Thread after thread it seems. I hit a wall around level 35 on my marauder and luckily my 6 respec points saved my butt. Going strong at level 43 now. Still, the chart is intimidating to casuals. Despite GGGs tough stance, I wouldn't be surprised if they ease the respeccing a bit. Not saying make it full and easy... just ease it a bit somehow... maybe add a few more from quests. Afterall, they need people to spend in the shop to keep the game going. If they start to lose cash shop paying players because they simply don't have time to reroll, it could lead to a change in their stance on the game mechanic.

I wouldn't be terribly surprised if at some point in the future they begin offering respec points in exchange for cash. Maybe like $0.50 per point? I personally don't consider that going against their anti-pay-to-win model. And I know a lot of people would utilize that service.

" This will be P2W. You can plan a build that works graet in late game, but totally suck early game. So what do you do? You are going to make a easy to level build, pay some cash later and enjoy your late game build without any drawback, that everyone else have to consider when making a character. P2W. |
