Season Eight Google Calendar and iCal

If you guys moved away from set starting times - instead had a system in place, for example, where each account could log into the race and only get to use 40 mins - but have 24-48 hours to complete... and then compile everyone's scores after the 24-48 hrs have passed. (IE - fastest time to kill Brutus - Mervail - etc etc - or whatever other concepts you could want to incorporate points for... like fastest to get an exalted orb drop - or whatever...)
Any chances you guys will ever move to this type of a system? I would actually participate and be interested - however on my "casual dad schedule" I would never get the opportunity to join your races even if I ever wanted to. Last edited by Isbox1#3280 on Jun 5, 2014, 10:09:26 PM

Thanks for the calendar thing!

" it would be too easily reused and abused. i could easily get multiple rewards in multiple tiers, driving the value of the items down. I need more purple titles Last edited by Ocylix#1741 on Jun 5, 2014, 10:34:59 PM

" I actually suggested almost the exact same thing months ago. The only difference was instead of giving 24-48 hours for each race, I juts suggested an hour or so either way. I can understand their current policy, and I see no problem with it, but I agree that from a 'casual dad' perspective I would be able to actually participate in races. I doubt that casual dad type players make up a huge portion of the player base though, so if it would be too much work, then odds are it might simply not be worth their time and effort. @Ocylix I don't think that it would be as easy as you think to abuse. They could limit the number of awards per account so that multiple attempts are voided. I could see how having multiple days to enter into a single race might be a problem, that is why I suggest just an hour on on either side. So my suggestion would be this: If the current race would start at say 7:00pm EST and run until 7:40 pm EST, then the new system would allow players to log in from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST and race for 40 minutes. The rules would need to be modified to account for things like disconnects, multiple entries on the same account and what have you. Obviously there are some other issues, but I think thta GGG could figure them out fairly easily. Exile

Although there are 190 races, you can only attend 20 of them, unless you are a jobless hobo.

" I'd love a system like this. The current system is neither fair nor really well-designed for an international audience. Fixed times work if they are per region (and players can only use their regional gateway/server), but for a game like PoE this doesn't work well. It's just not a balanced, even competition. If everyone could reasonably attend the same number of races, then the results would be more meaningful. (I also feel mixing group and solo races is not well thought-out.) They could also limit the number of eligible races that one account gets point for (say, 30% of the races). People who live, breathe and eat PoE could use multiple accounts, and more average players could still compete. edit: Anyway, whining and complaining aside: Thank you for the calendar!
