Mana Regenerations Problems - EB, Clarity
One of the huge problems i've as a spellcaster are my mana costs, or, to be more precise, that my skill costs are compensated by my mana regeneration.
In following, i make the assumption, that the cast time of my skill is 0.5, which means 2 casts per second. For all projectile skills, i ll take GMP (mcm 1.5), Life leech(mcm 1.3), penetr gem(mcm 1.4). MCM_Overall = 2.7 For all AOE skills im assuming Conc E(1.6), Life leech(1.3), penetr gem(1.4). MCM_Overall = 3.1 Highest Cost of Proj Skill: Ice Spear Lv20 (35 mana) -> 190 Mana/sec Lowest Cost of Proj Skill: FP Lv20 (23 mana) -> 124 mana/sec Highest Cost of AOE: Firestorm (32 mana) -> 198 Mana/sec Lowest Cost of AOE: Storm Call (20 mana) -> 124 mana/sec Im not even considering a 5 or even a 6L. As a conclusion, we need arround 150manaregen/sec in average to compensate our costs. We have 2 ring slots, amu, ES-Shield, Wand. With an average roll of 40% manaregen, thats 200%. Assuming your build can pick 100% more from tree, its 300%. Calc A) Clarity at lv20 delivers 24,6 mana regen per sec. A mana pool of 1000 delivers 17,5 mana regen per sec. Thats an overall base regen of 42,1 and a mana regeneration of 42,1*(1+[300%/100%])= 168,4 Mana per second. Calc B) If we pick EB and have some ES on gear, lets say we get a mana pool of 2500. That would be a base regen of 24,6 + 2500*1,75% = 69,35 or an overall regen of 277,4 with good ES + EB + Clari Calc C) If we pick 75% aura inc, we going to have a mana regen of 43.05 + 17,5 = 60.6. That would be a mana regeneration of 242.4. Please note at this point: 300% mana regeneration is already a shitlot; even getting 100% or more mana regen means serious passive points investments! In summary, i cannot support even a 5L in a decent way, if i not take EB or at least 50% aura inc and have extrem good mana regeneration on gear! I also have in mind, that Arctic Armour is very powerfull, so it should be not that easy to keep a lv20 on. ====================================== Suggestion: I was thinking on what average values they (GGG) based the mana cost. I personally think, it was arround 120-130 mana/sec. Means: if you have ok-good gear (150% Mana regen, 200% overall), decent mana pool and a lv20 clari, you should have arround 150 mana/sec. Since, a decent 5L skill needs arround 170-200 Mana Regen, i personally would change the base regeneration a bit. Clarity wouldn't be a good solution, because it can be allready buffed extremly by aura nodes (just compare calc b) and c), where in first line i get "almost same values" by sacrificing a ressourse [Energy Shield] or investing ~10 passive points for aura inc) I think a good solution would be, to increase the mana regen from mana pool from 1,75 to 2,1 (thats 20%) With 200% mana regen, lvl20 clari, 1200 mana pool, this would be a base mana regen of 24,6 + 2,1*12 = 50 or 50*(1+200%/100%) = 150 mana/sec, which covers the average costs of "most" 4L skills. This way, you still couldn't easily use ArcArm (~350%+ mana regen necessary). AA still can be easily used for EB(MoM) or AuraInc builds, i think those builds didnt had problems to run AA properly anyway. P.S.: No, i dont want to use Mana Flasks!!
