Enduring Cry and Increased Duration, Very Weird.......

I recently got Increased Duration which is currently increasing the duration of my vaal molten shell (a skill which is crazy awesome, which now lasts even longer.)

And just now i got Enduring Cry, and slotted in a linked slot with Increased Duration, but Increased Duration doesn't seem to affect Enduring Cry. It doesn't show the little abbreviation letter on the skill in the bottom right to show its being modified by it, nor is the effect time extended in the description while hovering over Enduring Cry nor when actually used.

Is this intended? If so, does anyone know why? Even though Enduring Cry for some reason does not list how long it lasts in its skill description, it is still for all intents and purposes an activated skill that lasts for a certain duration. Why then can Increased Duration, basically, not increase its duration?

Very Weird........
Endurance charges have built-in duration and can can be increased by getting "increased endurance charge duration" nodes.

In other words, this gem can't increase the duration of charges.

Charges are not considered buff's by the game engine and operate independently from increased duration nodes/gem, at least that's how i always figured it works.

Only specific charge duration increase nodes apply.

Because there is no duration to increase. Enduring cry isn't an "over time" skill, and the charges you gain from it are a byproduct of using the skill, they aren't part of the actual skill itself.

If enduring cry lasted 2 seconds and you gained one charge for every enemy within range per second, increased duration would increase the length of the cry and therefore the number of charges you'd get, but the charges themselves still wouldn't be affected. As it is, enduring cry doesn't last 2 seconds, there is no duration to increase.
There is a duration to increase, its 10seconds, regardless. Use Endurance Cry, it lasts for 10 seconds, Endurance Cry has a 10second duration regardless of any silly technicalities of if the charges technically come from the skill or yada yada yada

Bottom line - The endurance skill has a duration of 10seconds, why cant increased duration not increase this duration?
like monsta said. enduring cry is a skill that taunts enemies and grants charge as a byproduct. charge is in no way part of the skill enduring cry its just a mean to gain a charge among others.

Just looked up the definition of byproduct:

-Something produced in the making of something else.
-A secondary result; a side effect.

Really? so if the Endurance Charge is just a byproduct, a side effect, not the focus basically or intention on use at all, why then as you level up Endurance Charge, does the only thing that upgrade on the skill gem has to only do with this side/secondary non primary effect?

Why does the name of the skill in question have more to do with the endurance aspect than the taunting?

If the skill gem is all about the taunt, and it just so happens to grant charges from this taunt, why isn't the taunt upgraded *at all* as the skill gem is level'd?

Weird to have a skill gem primarily for something that never changes throughout its entire levelling process...

The endurance charges are no byproduct of the taunt, that's just plain incorrect, see below.

"Performs a warcry, adding endurance charges proportional to the number of surrounding enemies. Taunts all nearby enemies to attack the caster."

The description says it all, the Enduring Cry is all about giving you endurance charges proportional to the number of surrounding enemies, and then at the end also notes it taunts all enemies.

Its there to grant endurance charges, and those endurance charges last for a 10 second duration, so now that's out of the way, again, why can that duration not be increased with Increased Duration?

The only thing i can think of is if GGG just doesn't want EC affected by ID, for whatever reason. Though no idea what a good reason could be, increasing its duration with ID would in no way make it stronger let alone OP, as its already pretty easy to keep up.

It'd just be a quality of life thing, but also because technically it should work that way.

No, it shouldn't.

Enduring Cry grants Endurance Charges. You increase the duration of Enduring Cry. Why would Endurance Charges, something clearly separate from ECry, last longer as a result?

ECry has no duration. The Charges that are granted by ECry (and by various other skills and items) do. You're increasing the duration of the Skill you're using, not of the Charges you are obtaining.

Get over it.
What you said makes no sense, and was kinda retarded.

Seems your best and only argument was just you trying to split hairs on the skill and its effect, trying to separate them which is again retarded when the effect comes from the skill, and so its duration, period.

ECry makes charges, that last for 10 seconds, bottom line. The charges are in no way independent, as they are created from the bloody skill, therefore the skill is responsible for not only the creation of the charges but the duration of them as well, so the duration of said charges are again in no way independent from the skill.

My question still stands.

Anyone else want to try to get into an incorrect argument on the technicalities of the way the skill works, or actually try to find an answer to my question?

Why can't Increased Duration, increase the duration of the charges of ECry? Because of some retarded little technical theory that you would be increasing the duration of the enduring cry itself, when its the actual charges duration you want to increase, is just lame and sounds like a poor excuse to not let people use ID on EC.

If that is the case then the devs should have just said that they didn't want us to do that for whatever reason, and not hidden behind technicalities, imo.
