Catacombs and other useless areas. RISKS AND REWARDS!!
Seriously GGG, you have many areas that are just not tied into any kind of quests and are just pointless to explore. WHERE ARE THE REWARDS? The achievements aren't worth it and there is nothing at the end. How about putting a nice golden chest at the end of the level with random loot? Nothing OP about it, players would want to then make the trip to that place even on higher levels.
HAVING CHESTS RANDOMLY APPEAR AT THE END OF A LEVEL IS DUMB!!! CHESTS SHOULD ALWAYS BE THERE, THE LOOT CAN BE RANDOM! You guys need to give some rewards.... "How would you like it if I snuck into your country and did this job over there... and not cash in any of your friggin checks?!! You WONT!! Because you will be right here!!" - Master Shake.

Catacombs is one of the best XP-grinding dungeons in the game, and so are the Dread Thicket and Felshrine Ruins in act 2 that are similarly "useless". I think they're great as they are.
Large chests are random to combat bots. Once upon a time they were static spawns and that was abused quite a bit. You won't see them changing that back, I'm pretty sure. | |
" In any ARPG game, when a chest is a fixed spawn there are always botters who will abuse it. But really, it's time to stop punishing the players because of hackers and botters. Want to fix desync? Can't do it, hackers will ruin the game. Want to have a reason to go exploring? Can't do it, botters will ruin the game. Meanwhile, I can solo piety all day on cruel and get some fairly good rares on a pretty regular basis. I'm sure botters aren't abusing that *eyeroll* Don't tell GGG though, they'll nerf piety drops cuz you know, punish someone else for what the douchebag is doing by himself in the corner. my evasion is so high i only insta rip sometimes
----- Bug Fixes: People were using cyclone for actual melee builds, so we nerfed it and made blade vortex. Also, we went ahead and made cyclone great for CoC casters while we were at it. |

Desync has nothing to do with hackers and botters. It has everything to do with how PoE's network systems are designed, and the limited bandwidth of their servers.
On topic, I was merely explaining why large chests are randomized and not static spawns. Not saying it's a good thing, just how it is. | |
Catacombs is my favorite spot to level in cruel and merc. It's also an excellent check against your capacity to take cold damage.

I spent a lot of time leveling in the catacombs before I obtained a good amount of maps. As a melee that cold damage felt like it was really slowing me down, and I never got anything good out of the large chest after doing hundreds of runs and seeing many large chests. Take what you will from that. Just my personal experiences.

@OP : you don't like catacombs ? don't go there.
problem solved. It's a level 68 area which is not a map already ... And it's fun also, only maps with a huge mob spawn in the last room without a reason, I like it.
