Cruel: Oak or Kraityn?
Who to side with better with,..
Primary attack [RMB]: Lightning Arrow + LMP + Chain + Life Gain on Hit/Life Leech + (optional) Secondary attack [LMB]: Frenzy + Life Gain on Hit/Life Leech + (optional) And this passives tree: I am thinking Oak, because: - the 18% physical damage boost is much bigger than Kraityn's 8% attack speed boost - Frenzy damage is still physical - LA is based on physical damage - Blood Drinker passive node benefits more from directly increased physical damage - high damage per shot works better with Blood Magic and life leech than faster shots with lower damage, because relatively you're leeching more at less life/pseudo-mana expenditure That said, I might be totally wrong, hence this thread. Too bad the PoE forums don't have a poll option =/ |

The reasons you've listed are not incorrect, but the interaction of Increased % to your DPS is a little more nuanced than that.
(Example. Let's just use your auto-attack for simplicity since the elemental conversion makes this calculation complicated for LA) At the moment you have 60% increased physical with Bows and 36% projectile damage for a total of 96% increased damage on your attack. Not only that, you have Iron Grip and ~300 Str, which gives you another 60% physical. So all in all you have about 160% IPD already. So if you add 18% to that, you get to 178%. This means you do a total of 278% of your base physical damage. That last 18% increases your DPS by roughly 7% On the other hand you only have 22% increased attack speed. Meaning you normally do 122% of your base attack speed. If you add 8% to that, you get to 130%. This is also a 7% increase in DPS. All that said, I do still think you should help Oak, but the impact isn't as different as you'd think from just the 18% vs 8%. |

" Thanks, that's a very clear answer. In general if I've to go for either attack speed or damage with bows, and the DPS output turns out to be roughly the same, I'd always go for the latter. Apart from the mana/life issue, aesthetically damage just looks better, as bow animations seem to be somewhat gimped with high attack speed. |
