One handed sword + shield () Duelist build (need help)
|
I am thinking to do that kind of build. Tried to find another thread about it in the forum. But there was nothing.
I plan to spend my points to focus on : - Iron reflexes - Unwavering stance + Berserking - Enough +% Shield block chances - One handed sword damages and accuracy and attack speed. Here is a start : I tried to have enough strengh to use heavy strike or shield charge. Should I go for Blood Magic ? Should I try to have more mana ? Is there an easier way to do that ? Tell me what you think about it :) I apologize for my faults, I am still learning english. Last edited by Tahameron#5943 on Jan 28, 2013, 3:19:12 PM

I thought more about this build.
The main problem is there is not enough elemental resistance. I try to find a way to fix it. If anyone has an idea..... edit : This build clearly needs elemental resistance. Need to get it on equipment. edit 2 : this is a spoil about act two but it helps in the build.
Spoiler
In act two, there is quest where you have to kill 3 bandits, the reward is a skill point. But if you help one of them (Kraityn I think), you will be rewarded with 8% in all elemental resistances. I took it. Having more ER in the passive skill tree would cost more than a skill point.

Nobody seems to be intrested by this build. :S

" actually im interested but my knowledge about skill tree and the whole game is very limited. so i cant help you make it better, but since im also trying to build ss duelist im using your build as a template. anyways i have some questions. is opening blood magic bad for duelist, since it is not pure str. ive got a cold gem right now and im using it with the double strike and i've opened the icebite achievement,is that bad? my questions may sound lame , sorry :p |

Those questions are good questions ^^
About blood magic : I already have a Marauder with blood magic. If you have enough life leech and life regeneration. it makes you able use your spells with no interuptions. I am thinking about placing it in the build. but it would oblige me to make sacrifices. I try to find another way to not run out of mana. About icebite and the cold gem : I don't think it is a good idea to take icebite. At higher levels you will not find a lot of swords with cold damages. And if you find it, it will not makes more damages than the physical damages. So taking more attack speed or more physical damages is more intresting for this build. I think. The cold damage gem is still intresting if you don't have icebite because of the possibility to freeze and chill. Using it with cleave or leap slam makes it very powerfull. I am using it. Edit : About my mana problems, the support gem mana leech is a dexterity gem, I'll try find one. I hope it helped you. Thank you for your questions. I am happy to have someone to talk with ;) Last edited by Tahameron#5943 on Jan 28, 2013, 1:00:51 PM

i can close the icebite in the future then , ill just leave it open for the moment. it makes me lose 2 points but one of them is +10 dex, not so bad to rush for close i think. i will stick to your build but i may open the blood magic by making some sacrifices as you said. i dont like using mana :p
and im wondering why there is always points left? whats the max level atm, i think your build isnt the endgame build or is there a limitation on point spend system? |

It is not an endgame build of course. I don't think doing it now would be intelligent :)
This build represent the most important part, what I want to reach. When I'll have completed it, or almost, I will be able to think more of what needs this character. Maybe will it be blood magic ;). Anyway this character is still evolving, as i'll play it, the build might change. So feel free to spend your points where you think it's usefull. You can do better, and explain on this thread why you made those choices. :) Last edited by Tahameron#5943 on Jan 28, 2013, 4:03:21 PM

My current character. Note the large amount of health% nodes, the large amount of block% nodes, not many armour nodes. I also have yet to decide between axe or sword. If sword, then I will take accuracy/crit nodes as well as damage, if axe then I will take resolute technique and just get damage nodes. Also note the double +15% all res, and the +5% max res, I believe this is worth it. If you make this up with gear, you can respec. I am not sure about blood magic, I will test it later on. One keystone that looked cool was Vaal Pact, but I think it is weak at the moment. I may test it later though. |

I'm only level 24 and that's My build.
I also went into SS Duelist, but I've chosen the Dexterity's path as I think the attack speed is above everything. I do not know actually, was it worthy to spend 3 points on 80% mana regeneration, as I could spend them on attack speed, for example. However, as I'm using Double Strike (with Added Cold Damage as support gem) as my right-click-skill and Whirling Blades as my left-click-skill very often, I suffer a lack of mana very much. Keeping in mind that I also use Hatred and Wrath (additional cold and lightning damage), reserving in sum 60% of mana, I prefered to spend those three points on mana regeneration. But i particullary like my build, hope it's not a dead end =) |

Hi, i am on lvl 25 now and this is my build atm.
Current Skill tree And this is the way i want to keep moving in the Tree Desired tree My first build, before the wipe, was build up on 2 Handed Swords but now i decided to push all into dual wield. As first attack i use "Double Strike" with "Life Gain on Hit" + "Additional Accuracy" as support and "Bloodrage" as buff. Second strike is "Dual Strike" with "Fire Dmg" as support. As 3rd strike i use "Viper Strike" atm but i guess i'll change it to leap slam soon. IGN : Loothure ; Feeltheforce ; Last edited by nullinger#7428 on Jan 29, 2013, 9:55:57 AM
