Stuck inside map
Bug reference #2154966145
You can become stuck inside a map and forced to exit the game if the Eternal Laboratory instance that you used to enter the map expires. You get the following error message when you attempt to enter a portal from inside the map (despite not actually being disconnected from the server): "Error: Failed to join instance because: Disconnected from server." "Error: failed to join any instances." This should not occur - either the Eternal Laboratory instance should remain open indefinitely while players are inside the map, or a new, identical instance should be created at the time when you portal out of the map if the original one has expired. Thanks for your post. This is exactly what happened to me just now, and I was trying to figure out why it happened.
My way to clear maps is to try to not to use portals at all until the end of the boss fight, to minimize portals loss in case of death. Thanks to your post I've learned that this is a very bad idea as the EL instance it's just a 'normal' instance and will expire after less than 15 minutes. This is really awful imho, as to avoid precious maps loss GGG may think to something better for that particular instance. I think also to disconnections or other problems that may occur. I've read many threads on this topic and apart from comprehensible, and shared, dismay when loosing a high level map, I think that most of the problems may be addressed by simply managing the Eternal Laboratory instance as special and with peculiar qualities. Just an idea, but for now I will avoid to let my EL instance expire. You have all my support and sympathy for sure! |

This happened to me a few times and I think I have figured out what happened.
I am able to stay in a map for a long time without losing the connection with the Eternal Laboratory instance. There seems to be a link between the map and the Eternal Laboratory instance that keeps it from expiring. The problem occurs when you finish a map and close all the portals and then open a new map in the same Eternal Laboratory instance. It seems that the EL instance does not get linked up with the new map, so when you spend a long time in the second map then the EL instance disappears. The workaround is to always spawn/enter a new EL instance before opening a new map. |

" So, you are saying 'new map=new EL instance'? If this is true, that means that there is a bug! I'll sacrifice a white map to this just to try it out. Let's see... EDIT: It works! Great hint until the bug it's not fixed. Thank you very much :) Last edited by waterflow#6431 on Jan 22, 2014, 2:30:44 PM

Upon further testing, this *only* appears to happen when you reuse an Eternal Lab instance from a previous map.
Steps to reproduce: 1. Activate a map. 2. Use all six portals. 3. In the same Eternal Lab instance, activate a second map. 4. Enter the second map and stay inside the instance for at least 30 minutes. 5. Attempt to use a portal and you get the "disconnected" error message. Workaround: always create a new Eternal Lab instance for each map. Apparently the Eternal Lab remains "attached" to the original map as far as remaining open. I think this is a bug. |

Same problem here, workaround seems to solve it.
Would be nice if this could be added to the "Known issues list" so there is some indication it is actually going to be fixed at some point. |

Found this old thread from a Google search.
I am currently stuck in a map. I had idled inside a Trial of Ascendancy and in the map itself several times. I had 4-5 remaining entry portals for the map in my Enlightened Hideout (Elreon level 6). Map is Overgrown Shrine, level 71, with the Trial of Stinging Doubt. " What makes this extra sucky is I am a summoner, so I lose my Spectres by having to quit the game.
