Searing Bond
I haven't played Searing Bond in about 6 months, and since then it has had multiple changes, as well as the changes to damage over time (ie burning damage) calculations.
Back when I used to play Searing Bond, almost no support gems actually worked with it, and nothing but burning damage pumped it. It's obviously a very different story now, so before I plan my next build, what support gems, item mods and passives now effect Searing Bond? I just bought a (cheap) Searing Touch to rebuild my warping bond, 6 socketed in 28 jews and 5 linked in 6 fuse, so I take that as a sign from RNGesus that I'm supposed to do this once again. So I will once again be going triple totems, with 1 searing bond and 2 warping totems. Any advice, suggestions, and the info I requested will be much appreciated. Many lewt. Much desync. Instead of using a Searing Touch Staff, consider using a staff with
Prefixes: Lava Caller (+2 to Fire Gems) Paragon (+1 to Gem Level) Suffixes: of Ashes (+30% Fire Damage) Let's call this item your GL staff, for Gem Level. The reason is as follows: From now on, SB refers to 'Searing Bond' and ST refers to 'Searing Touch', . The +3 to Fire gems modifier on 3S, along with a level 3 Empower, boosts SB's level to Level 26. Assuming no other supports, ST will boost SB to level 21, giving it a base damage of 1842.4 DPS A perfect ST provides a bonus of 40% Fire and 70% Burning Damage, for a total increase of 110%, so 1842.4 + (1842.4 x 110%) = 2026.64 DPS. By contrast, the GL staff boosts SB to level 26, giving it a base damage of 2786.4 DPS A perfect GL staff gives 30% Fire damage, so 2786.4 + (2786.4 x 30%) = 3622.32 DPS, or a 78.73% increase in DPS over a PERFECT ST. What if you don't have a perfect GL Staff? Well, the important mods on the staff there are 'Lava Caller' and 'Paragon', so if you don't have the 'Of Ashes' Suffix, your base DPS is still 2786.4 DPS or a 37% increase in damage, again, OVER A PERFECT SEARING TOUCH. How easy is it to find a staff with Lava Caller and Paragon on Standard? This easy. Take note, the above advice does not apply only to staves. Sceptres with +2 to fire and +1 to gem level are common Merciless Piety Drops. Considering that the only critical supports you need for SB are "Increased Burning Damage" and "Empower", a cheap, 3-socket scepter will do just as well. I gave my last +2fire +1gem level weapon to a friend of mine that plays fire trap, cba farming for another.
I will be using searing touch for 5L searing bond. Don't forget that Searing Touch has +2 fire gems on it already. Your suggestion cuts me from 5-6L searing bond to 3L, for the gain of +1 gem levels, and at the cost of that huge burning damage bonus. Bad advice is bad Sachiru. Many lewt. Much desync. after the buff searing bond finally deals visible dmg but the issue with it remains
you want 5L? what gems you want to use with it? fire pen - does not work, ele prolif - does not work, chance to ignite - does not work. it leaves you with inc burning + iir/(iiq) + minion totem ele resist + empower? i think that due to the way spells scale levels are more important than links on SB |

You may better off using a 3link wand with +2 fire gem and decent spell damage.

i would set it up like:
Searing Bond + increased burn damage + fire pen + Life Leech (so totems never die) + culling or elemental prolif (if it works) Edit: i just realized most of those benefit from the +2 lvl from searing touch staff ^^ So many build ideas... no time.... Ele prolif doesnt work because while it is burn damage, burning enemies aren't considered to be ignited.
Fire pen doesn't work with it apparently, and I doubt life leech would either - as you don't get life leech from DoT effects like puncture or viper strike, why would the totem get it in this case? What about using remote mine, trap, reduced duration lv1, and burn damage. With the trap belt? The reduced duration is necessary to set them up fast without them having to be triggered at the cost of 7.5 seconds totem duration - considering base without passives is 30 yes? |
