Had huge difficulties killing Merveil...

I was level 17 and there was NO WAY in hell I was going to solo Merveil. I dodged her ice spears as much as I could but I still needed to stop in order to shoot out my own ice spears. Once she caught me in a Freeze, my ES dropped to 0 and my health was around 40-50%. All that because I stopped to shoot and then I kite as much as I could in order to get my health/ES back but by the time I got my ES back her ES was back as well and I had to start over...

Is it like this as a Cold witch in the beginning? Or am I missing something?

To kill Merveil I had to team up with others.

Any info or suggestions would be awesome, thanks.

EDIT: I'm using Ice Spear and Freezing Pulse but the main spell I used was Ice Spear since it has the longest reach.

Merveil is a pita, that's normal ^^

You usually should have 2 cold resist rings, a bunch of HP and some top notch life flasks. Then stay in semi-melee range and tank her hits.

You might want to bring non-cold dmg as well.

Yep get 2 Sapphire rings from Nessa and you can also use a TP scroll in this particular battle to get back to town to refill flasks in the middle of the battle.

You should also have a closer look at her abilities. Once you get closer, she will stop shooting ice spears and instead use cold snap - don't get to close, her melee is rather strong too. As others have said, use cold resist rings.

Using another element helps! For example: run in circles around her at close range and throw fire traps at her feet.

With a melee character it somehow allways seems easier for me.

i struggled until i found two cold resist rings, then just face tanked her and spammed shock

This is my frist time playing this nice game and I killed Mervil in my second try, alone. The boss is hard and the game should be hard, at least the bosses.

If you tried sometimes without success, just call some friend or someone.

Just open a portal and nuke her. Run out of pots, hop in portal, rinse repeat.
Also, 2 cold resist rings help.

I built up ~75% cold resist from 2 sapphire rings my gear and passives and just tanked her spells from range while bombarding her with firestorm the resist really takes the bite off of her ranged spells
