Totems and Traps
|
What happens if I put both a totem and a trap support gem on a skill. Do I get a totem that summons traps of that skill, a trap that summons a totem that casts that skill, or does one get favoured and the other support gem acts like it doesn't exist?

You get a trap that summons a totem. You could even make a mine that sets trap that summons a totem that summons minions, I think >.>

You get a totem wich you can only place at your location, it still receives the damage bonus of the trap support gem but it's not really worth giving up the benefit of free positioning.

" " So which is it. MonstaMunch's idea makes more sense, as neither traps or totems are placed at your location, so why would having both make it so you lose that ability? If MonstaMunch is correct, is there any way I can change the order so that I can lay a mine who summons a totem who lays traps, as that actually has potential value, where as a mine that lays a trap really doesn't. |

" Its like I said. There isn't a way to change the order. Also remember that you can use traps in the same way as ranged weapons by throwing them directly at mobs, just you get a shorter throwing range than you would with weapon based skills. |

Let me make it a bit clear on the matter, by giving you and example of good trap/totem combo which will probably make sense.
What i tried is a combo of these support gems to any cast-able damage/curse spell. Spell totem (support) - Trap (support) - Active Spell/skill. This is the main 3 gem build, depending on the spell/skill it self you can add several different things. I'm also working on a build for that skill combo which quite honestly can be matched to a pure trap assassin from Diablo 2 LoD. I'll keep you posted on it, it's still experimental though ... |
