My alpha experience

A lot of information has been detalied already from other alpha testers, and I don't wish tread over the same ground, so this post may be a bit different.

I am very impressed by the game in general, it feels right. I have some concerns, but most of those are about things that will be changed before the release, so I don't want to mention them here.

Instead, I will post some general tips I have discovered along the way.

1. Pay close attention to stat requirements on armor/weapons. In the beginning I was using 2h axes on my maurader and I failed to notice the Dex requirement (at the time it was so low it didn't catch my eye) however, later in the game as the dex req grew I found myself unable to equip them, and as such, I decided to roll a new character. These requirements are being looked at by the developers currently and may not be the same in the comming weeks. But, I thought it was a good tip anyways.

2. Save your currency items. Just like Chelsey(sp?) and her imbue in D2, the currency items effectively alter the stats on your items (in various ways), making even the least valuable of them MORE valuable later in the game as the quality of items increases.

3. Pay close attention to your vial's. Equipping the right kind (in terms of mods granted) of health/mana vial for your character is quite important.

The first hint is quite useful, but isn't there an easier way to correct your mistake, let's say, by putting all of your passive skills and attribute points into dex at the next few levels? Or were you THAT far behind?
some usefull tips, thanks :)

Your right, had I noticed it earlier it wouldn't have been the problem it was. And, you are also right in assuming I was THAT far behind.

However, what is also important is that the main armor options for Mauraders have (of course) strength as the main requirement, so while I could have leveled 6 more times and dumped those points into dex (allowing me to use the axe) I would have then gimped myself for armor.

If the system stays roughly the way it is (which I doubt) i am sure I could have planned ahead by looking at some higher level weapons and determining what my Dex would have to be.

as to the other question about my heath/mana levels... not sure, I am at work currently.

I have a level 40 Maurader and a level (28?)... other character :)

Here's a tip. Always drink from your health/mana vials before combat is over (not after). That way the last few enemies can go toward recharging your vials instead of being wasted.
