Does Avatar Of Fire half your damage?
Avatar of fire reads:
-------------------------------------------------- 50% of Physical Damage Converted to Fire Damage. 50% of Lightning Damage Converted to Fire Damage. 50% of Cold Damage Converted to Fire Damage. Deal No Non-Fire Damage. -------------------------------------------------- Does fire damage in general do more damage? Are there any direct upsides to this passive? Must i build around this passive for it to be a good addition to my character? What if i don't find fire penetration and i go against a very fire resistant mob? This may seem like a pretty typical issue, i looked around the forums and saw no direct answer to this question. So, here we are. |

It doesnt really half the damage but you see it halfs each elements damage. it doesnt say you deal 50% less damage.
You can use it with skills like freezing pulse which would deal fire damage then if i remember correctly. You really gotta build around it though. |

The real upside is that you need less to convert 100% damage to fire. Then you can make huge dps gains by focusing entirely on fire damage bonuses. But it doesn't give any bonus to fire damage by itself.
If I have two fish, and you have three fish, how many fish do we have?
None. These are MY fish. |

There are skills and items which convert damage into fire as well - so you ca for example achieve 100% physical damge converted to fire by useing Infernal blow + AoF.
Such combos are quite strong because you can get some crazy damage out of your passives (lava lash + templar wed nodes + WED + Melee physical support would provide tons of damage) Proud 5th duelist in the Jul 1 2012 Ladder Race and in the Nov 3 2012 Solo Turbo Race :D And even prouder 4th Templar in the Nov 10 Four-hour Party Hardcore Race :P Current OB success: top 20 Ranger in 105 Minute Turbo Solo (S4E9) Last edited by Sony_Black#0112 on Dec 5, 2013, 2:56:03 PM

If you use Infernal Blow, Cold to Fire, or a perfect Blackgleam
you can convert the remaining 50% of the damage to Fire as well as the 50% that Avatar of Fire is changing, for a full 100% conversion. By doing so, your damage will be entirely elemental, which has certain benefits and drawbacks: Pros: Enemies not resistant to Fire will be MUCH easier to kill than with a physical attack Weapon Elemental Damage is easier to boost in many ways than physical damage tends to be Crits will apply a massive burn to the enemy, while a physical crit would not apply any status Fire Penetration gem can be used to pierce the enemy's resist (even into the negatives) for a large damage boost to your entire damage Cons: You can't leech anything without a Life Leech/Mana Leech gem as you aren't doing physical damage As a result of no leech, reflect may be hard to deal with Fire resistant enemies or enemies that resist all elements (which can be quite common) will resist a portion of your damage that they normally wouldn't if you were using physical i too fas fo youuuuuuu

Another interesting build - cold to fire + Ice spear crit build (with AoF of course) ;) Ice spear allows you to put a lot of passives into crit damage, since it already has a great chance to crit...

" From the same character that had the above Ice Nova link. It's very insane. Try it. BTW, the character's name is "TheRealJohnnyCash" cause that's the only way in this game to use a ring of fire (Ice Nova + Cold to Fire + AoF) i too fas fo youuuuuuu Last edited by Duskbane#4733 on Dec 5, 2013, 2:59:34 PM
