Hailrake

Is seriously the hardest mob in the whole game. Yes, I get it some of you know how to beat him on Normal, but normally, he just spams his ice spear, freezing you and his butt buddies pick you clean before you can unfreeze and run away. And don't forget those potions! Because they really keep up with all that damage from Hailrake and his crew...

This is how I feel about cold mobs in the game in general. Cold is WAY too OP!

Hailrake used to be a PITA; not so much anymore.
He probably has the highest noob-kill count, though. Died to Hailrake myself with my first (two?) characters.
After that I played a bit more carefully, not rushing forward. You can then lure the minions away (at least a part of them), making Hailrake easier.
He also doesn't spamm IS that much if you stand close to him - but of course he's also quite a hard hitter. Still, it's really not that time consuming to reach Hailrake, so if you die, make a new character (or restart in town) and try again.
After the initial one or two times, I haven't died to Hailrake anymore.

Oh yes, try to get some coldres (you'll need it for Merveil and Piety anyway) if he freezes you. BTW, IS has a higher chance to crit (and thus freeze you) if you're far away from the caster (IS has two forms, the second one having +600% crit chance).

Hailrake is a first lesson about how important are resists in poe. Get 2 frost res rings and laugh at him.

Also buy some very common for like 1 alch. Helps tremendously against Hailgorror and Merveil.

just understand how ice spear works and you will be fine.

He is not that bad though it can be a bit annoying if he gets a lucky freeze on your while you're being mobbed by his friends before you can kill them off :P

Almost died to him a few times during races.... but so far I've managed to avoid death :P
