Jeweler orb not functioning w/Goldrim

Hello, I recently tried to 4-socket my Goldrim Leather Cap, but the game won't let me apply a jeweler to it. I've linked it here:





No, there are no gems in it.
No, when I try to apply the jeweler, it isn't equipped.
Yes, I am right-clicking the gem, and left-clicking the item.

It gives me the exact same message that you would receive if you tried to use a piece of currency on an equipped item.

For reference:

Out of curiosity, I blew a jeweler on a random vendor item in the same manner and that worked fine.
I threw a chromatic orb into this very Goldrim cap and that worked fine. Using a jeweler immediately afterwards gave me the error message.

I know jewelers have worked on this item in the past because I bought it with 1 or zero sockets and brought it up to the 3 it is now some time ago.

I tried relogging, re-equipping, moving everything around, trying it in a different inventory slot - - it still gives me the error message. I literally can't jeweler my Goldrim Leather Cap. :(

Jewelers orbs will fail when an item has its maximum number of sockets already. Your hat is probably less than item level 28, meaning 3 sockets is its max.

Ah, so simple.

Alas...

Oh well. Yet another reason itemlevel should just be listed on items. Didn't even occur to me. Well, thank you.

It's already working correctly. You just need to understand Item Levels and max sockets. Info is readily available in the wiki.
