Can you help me understand mods on my armour please?
So this is current armour I am wearing. I realize it is not godly but I am quite happy with it.
Unavailable I am asking your help in understanding the mods I have on it because I am wondering if rerolling makes any sense. Maybe it will help someone else, too, understand item values better. Am I correct in interpreting this armour to have the following mods? - Prefix: Buttressed. 69% increased armor. - Prefix: Sanguine. +29 Life. - Suffix: Of the Inuit: 10% Cold Resistance. - Suffix: Of the Gorrila. +30 Strength - Suffix: Of Stone Skin. +16% Base Stun Recovery. OR is it possible that I am incorrect in believing that this armour has the "Buttressed" prefix, and it in fact has a lower armour prefix combined with some form of other prefix, e.g. "Of the Crab". How can I find out? Additionally, I want to know if I am correct, then I can only obtain another Prefix, but not a suffix, should I apply an Exalted to this armour. (And if I am wrong above, and in fact I do not have "Buttressed of Stone Skin", but some combination, then this might not be true?) Finally, I would like to know what my options would be in improving this armour. - Am I correct in understanding that applying a Divine Orb to this armour would reroll the numeric values on the mods this armour has (which I attempted to list above and which I hope you will correct or addend below), but not change them? In other words, if it is true that I have the Buttressed mod, then applying a Divine Orb would guarantee me that I would at the very least get +65% armour (and hence not lose too much, since I currently have 69), but potentially gain me up to 82%? And at the same time, in the same application of the Divine Orb, and if it is true that I have the Sanguine mod, I can at the very most keep +29 Life, but will probably get less? - Am I correct in understanding that there is no way that I can apply any kind of Orb and get more +Life out of this armour barring the application of a Chaos Orb, which would potentially get me to lose the Buttressed mod and have it replaced with something less desirable? The same thing could be said for the cold resistance, which is almost the highest value I can get out of Inuit -- correct? - Am I correct in understand that if I were to obtain an Exalted Orb, I could apply it to this armour and gain an additional Prefix (but only if my summary is correct above, and my +69% Armour and +16% Stun Recovery is not a combination of 3 mods), but not a suffix, and because some Prefixes are already used and cannot be applied twice from the same category to the same item, and also because not all categories can be applied to all items, looking at this list here (http://www.pathofexile.com/item-data/prefixmod), I could "only" gain: Armour and Stun Recovery ("Beetle's", etc....), Damage Return ("Thorny", etc...), Item Acquisition ("Magpies", etc...), or Mana ("Beryl", etc...). (That Prefixmod list I linked to does not say which mods can apply to which items.) Is this correct? - Should you have any additional advice for me, I would be grateful. I am incredibly confused by this. where are you seeing the 2 prefixes and 3 suffixes? I don't see them on the pop-up for the armor. I see the stats but not those names of those suffixes and prefixes.

" The item list. Click the Game link above this post, then Items, then Suffixes/Prefixes. @OP: You got it basically right, especially with regards to a divine only rolling within the confines of the current suffix/prefix ranges. The thing is, for the cost of two or three divines, you could probably buy a much nicer piece of armor ready to wear without having to reroll anything. Just a thought. |

" The only way to find out is using one or two of these i guess. Unavailable Last edited by jaankoo#1089 on Jan 3, 2013, 11:41:08 AM

Thank you for those replies so far.
If I may: - Really? I can buy a nicer 5L armor for about 10 GCP? What, do I post in trade, WTB 5L lvl 62 or above? I haven't been able to trade for crap so far. Any tips appreciated. - So am I correct that it's Buttressed and Of Stone Skin, or do I need an exalted (which I don't have) to test? Christ, the curiosity is killing me, if the latter is true, then I am willing to put up 6 GCP to trade for your Exalted, Mr. Jaankoo, and I'll throw in 2 Jeweller's to boot. I must know. - Am I correct that if it is Buttressed and Of Stone Skin, I can only get one of 4 remaining Prefixes which can still roll on body armour, one of which is (IMO) utter crap (the "Thorny" category)? EDIT: Or in fact are the possibilities even less limited? I'm not even sure that Item quanitity / quality spawns on Body Armour... " I've been playing Alpha recently so I'm not sure what general price ranges are being used in beta at the mo, but unless they've changed a lot, yeah. You've got a reasonable (though not amazing) amount of armor, and 5l, that's really all that's good about the chest. I would even be willing to bet that you could roll something much nicer than that using 10-20 chaos, which is less than you'd spend to exalt and divine the armor as it is. " As far as I'm aware (and I may be wrong), there is no way to be certain. The thing about exalts is that you should only use them if your item already has all the mods you need/want, then think of whatever you get from the exalt as a bonus. This chest doesn't have everything you need, and one exalt can't change that (I'm talking about higher life and ele res rolls mainly). The bit you got completely right was trying to work out the current number of prefixes and suffixes to narrow down the possible list of results from exalting it. If everyone did that, there would be a lot less wasted exalts. " Ya, I only count two possibilities though didn't check thoroughly. In conclusion, I personally wouldn't exalt or divine it. If you like the base because of the all res and 5l and you have some currency to burn, chaos it. Be sure to get yourself at least a couple of chaos stacks before you start so that you don't leave yourself worse off than when you started. Last edited by MonstaMunch#6519 on Jan 3, 2013, 8:20:53 PM
