Tell me the story act 1

It seems I am going to finish Act 1, just killed the captain.
But so far, I can't see any story. Every quest seems to be so separate to form a story.
Just tell me the simple version of the story of Act 1.
Thanks a lot.
It's a long story, actually.

There's more stuff added since the patch, quite a lot even, but you only find those things later on the game.

The main goal is told by tarkleigh and nessa, they want to ease their lives on the coast by having some connection inland. They hope that instead of the coast there will be more food, and maybe some people out there, and since you managed to kill hillock, you seem to be the right person for going this road.

Doing so you will more or less purify all the coast from it's evil, and discover some background about wraeclast wich settle the mood in a dark fantasy universe.

Plus your character maybe seeks a way back to oriath or some revenge against dominus, or at least, some descent leaving, after all, being an exile doesn't mean living a poor life^.

If you pay attention to all the writings and dialogues you can see or hear the whole story is really a good one!

I think what hasn't been mentioned yet is the history of act 1 and why things in Wraeclast are as they are. Before the Karui came in to invade Eternal Empire's post at Lioneye's, there were no dead bodies walking around. No hostile animals. No cannibals (they are descendants of the Karui who have gone down "the old ways"). After settling in, dark clouds came drifted towards them from the inland. No one could sleep without facing nightmares that would drive people mad. Animals started to become hostile. Brothers killed brothers. The dead of the Karui started rising and had to be gotten rid of in a way that was not of the Karui way. Then the darkness called Kaom (of whom there is a lot of talk about) into the depths of the Earth. He went and never returned.

But seriously, why do I have to tell you all this? It sounds to me like you didn't even bother reading about the game story on your way to Fairgraves and now you sound disappointed about not understanding how the quests relate. If you truly want to know, go find out yourself.

Genghis Khan (Temujin to his friends) is my favorite exile. Murder, rape, pillage and looting to build the perhaps the largest empire ever seen on the face of the Earth.
Crafting doesn't exist in POE. Gambling does...and the house always wins.

Velocireptile - I LOL'ed. Which made me fart. I wish the office were empty right now :(

Hardlicker - I had to push the dog out of the way so I could get to the sexy quilt.

It's fucking genius, really. The last thing any of us want is another 'you are the chosen one now go save the world from utter destruction!!!!' bullshit excuse to go about murdering and looting anyone who disagrees.

Fuck the prophetic framework inherent to so many apocalyptic narratives. Fuck the need to be needed. Fuck the whole concept of 'only YOU can save the world now!'

OMG so true, I was fucking sick of Diablo 3 "the chosen nephalem" story bullshit! And everyone would remind me of how important I the Nephalem am and how only I can save the world. Like, really? It seems like the story was written by some shiity comics writer for 13 years old nerds. It's so...childish, so...americanized super hero bullshit for kids. I think I'm going throw up right now.

The funny thing is I am really looking forward to RoS expansion for D3 but with this horrible story I don't think I'm going to handle it.

On the other hand the world and the story behind it in PoE is pure genius.
