Hatred vs Anger

They are both 60% reserved, but hatred gives 36% added cold damage (from phys dam) at level 20. Anger gives 94-156 fire dam at level 20.

When you have a level 20 gem it shouldn't be too hard to have, say, 2k physical dps. That gives 720 extra damage from hatred. On top of that hatred chills opponents.

Is there ANY reason at all to EVER choose Anger?
Anger gives more DPS if you have elemental damage nodes or affixes. It also scales with attack speed.

Let's say your weapon is 300 physical DPS with 1.8 attack speed. You also have 200% increased physical damage and 100% increased elemental damage.

Hatred gives 300*(1+2+1)*0.36= 432 DPS

Anger gives 1.8*(1+1)*(94+156)/2= 450 DPS
If you took AoF. If you are fire specced. If you want to use all three anger / hatred / wrath.

OK. I was asking because I was considering taking Anger in a build centered on Kaom's Primacy as that has a little bit of fire damage on it. So I figured with fire damage added and Anger I could do something cool (no pun intended).
But Kaom's Primacy has an attack speed of 1.00 and I can't really fit in more than 30% elemental damage from Lava Lash, so there is seem to be a long way to make anger viable then.

EDIT: Well, I am a marauder. I think if made this as a Templar build it might become more viable.

When talking about Hatred and chilling, your DPS has no relevance what so ever. What does have relevance is your damage per hit. Both chilling and freezing effects are only affected by your cold damage per hit and not your cold damage per second. Ref: http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Chill

Burning works the same way (the more in one hit the better), however, as Anger is not based on your physical damage and instead a flat value you will benefit more from Anger if your physical damage is low. Anger does not care what your physical damage per attack is.

If you will invest in weapon elemental damage then Anger can potentially be much better than Hatred, as the more damage you deal per hit the more burning damage they will take. You can read more about the burning mechanic here: http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Burning
Thank you for the answers.

It seem like Fire damage is not a very optimal route to go for a 2-hander then. I'll have to think more about my options then, since I was planning on doing something with Infernal blow and thought going the Fire path was a good idea.

Also,
"multiple applications from the same source do not stack"
"only the burning effect with the highest damage per second will cause damage at any given moment"

So burning seem irrelevant for those where Anger would be beneficial: If the target is burning it will only take fire damage from one source and from one effect.
Since you need a high attack speed to beat Wrath (cold damage) you will quickly be applying a new effect and from the same source, which will immediately nullify the previous application.

The previous application only gets nullified if its damage is lesser. You can apply multiple burns, but only the highest damage burn from each source would be active.
My build is at level 29 so far and i have no elemental damage nodes allocated, however my DPS is significantly higher with anger compared to hatred, is this just a leveling occurence where my DPS will end up being higher with hatred at later levels? :p

Many skill/support gems have different levelling curves, and the effectiveness of gems are also very dependent on gearing. So, the short answer is: yes.
