Down goes Dominus on Merc in new league! WORLD FIRST?!?!

So somehow I ended up leading the Domination league by leveling solo with a impromptu made spectral throw spec soloing. By the time I reached act3 I decided I'd just go for the Dominus kill and take a break there(yes, I'll be sleeping soon). My defensive stats are in the second screenshot for the sake of this discussion.

You can read a slight winge below but I'll just mention a few other things up here.

- I got asked alot so my spec was just some kind of high life based blood magic/spectral throw build. I used double strike for single target and ran no auras or curses even almost the entire time. I didn't group once and just went through most of the quests without skipping too much.

- Either I'm unlucky or the glassblower baubles change went too far. Leveling through to 64 I didn't find a single one.

- Likewise with being unlucky, bugged or spawn rates being too low - I didn't face a single rogue exile throughout my 64 levels. I'd heard of other people seeing them so it might have been me, or terrible luck. Either way, I look forward to fighting them and was disappointed to not see any.

- I absolutely loathed the new act3 areas, the ones on the way to Dominus atleast. I pretty much ran past/through everything just to get to him all 3 times because those mobs are so horrendously annoying. Not sure why you had to add another desync nightmare with those leapers that breath arctic, which by the way hits like a truck even with cold res.

That's about all I had to say. I had a real fun leveling experience and the game feels rather polished now. The desync is still pretty awful but I only really noticed it being bad with the usual suspects - leapers/rollers/etc, but with them it was quite bad.





Dominus rant - Yea I was a few levels below Dominus so it's natural for me to expect a pounding but the level of pounding I took I was not expecting. I run 6 endurance charges so my resists were all at 75 or real close to it. I'm wearing different boots in the screenshot but I was using fire/cold res ones which brought me to around 50 all res.

Dominus hits like a truck. He's yet another in the long line of bosses that will rail you because you've chosen to play melee. The beetle things he shoots would kill me in 2-3 hits sometimes even with capped res and enfeeble. The last phase is just a joke because theres so many mobs and the bleeds he stacks by hitting you or not being in his holy circle are just retarded. I don't want to complain very much because I'm assuming he's far easier with real gear and higher levels but I don't see anyone on the HC league a) wanting to kill him and b) able to until well over leveled. It's a bit absurd imo.

edit: forgot to mention he sometimes winds up his "touch of god" ability all sneaky like and says nothing. Ports over and just slaps it down real quick.

Take it for what it's worth. I'm just adding my personal feedback and he seemed a bit much. I've done end game mapping with alot of the top anarchy players and almost everyone would avoid piety in shrine and fire fury in crema. I'd do them because my char could and I wasn't too afraid of dying but my point is, they're both absolute jokes to the way Dominus acts. You'll never see a high level standard player or a hardcore char do him in the maps.

If that's the goal then by all means. If it's not I'm simply pointing it out.

Braggin about world first in standard just shows you have loads of time and that your leveling build is decent.

Killing Dominus in normal mode on hardcore, is a bigger achievement than killing Dominus in merciless on standard league.

Still... I enjoyed the read :) Grats I guess.

Yea I fully agree with you. I just kinda like being able to play fearlessly these days. Did the hardcore grind and it was fun for a while but the thrill dried up.

I was listening to a group of my friends do Dominus on normal in hc and it was far more intense than my fight first fight. It's quite incomparable because I get to experience the mechanics full force and then learn to adjust. Hardcore players don't know what's coming and could just rip right there and then because they're unaware of the mechanics.

That said I didn't die to the normal version. Think I had one death to cruel. And let's not look into what the zergfest in merc cost me...

Mate, you have 3.5k armor as melee... expect to die even with 6 end charges up.. i have 2.1k armor now at level 30 :/

I can't wait to face Dominus in Nemesis btw

i saw how he was first in all merc lunaris temple areas and scepter of god areas, i see no reason why this would be false then
