You can play a barb that uses spells if you want. The potion mechanics are entirely different. Spells dont benefit from phys and ele dmg mods like in d3.
For starters. |

One is a god sent revival, the other one is good but overall was a letdown. Guess which is which

" this tells me that you actually haven't played both of them before, or else you would know. Go play them both and come back with some real questions and we'll be happy to answer them. PoE is free, no prob there. D3 is approx. $60, if you own it... np, if not... you know what to do |

If you don't know the differences you clearly haven't played both games.

Masticate every sword. Shatters every shrine. It defeat mighty kings and carry mountains on lightly wings. What am i? Last edited by Spysong192#7559 on Oct 7, 2013, 2:24:38 PM

They are pretty different. I'll give you my opinion on the matter:
Things Diablo III does better: Visceral combat Encourages use of more than one main skill Solo play and acquiring end-game gear is less time and luck intensive End-game content is not locked behind RNG barrier Crafting is crafting... at least, it is LESS random Things Path of Exile does better: Real, gritty, scary setting and environments Story isn't incredible, but it is a lot less corny Character customization is (semi-)permanent, so your character feels less like a "loadout" and more like a character Huge assortment of skills and these skills are not tied to any one class Huge, FFX-style passive tree Skill gems work like Materia from FF7 Updated with new stuff far more frequently This is just a very basic and quick overview. Both games have other strengths not listed, and both of them have issues. My suggestion: Play both. Honestly, they are different enough to not get burned out playing both games. And sometimes changing between them is refreshing, since you can escape certain issues in either game. Team Won

-currency system ( gold doesnt work )
-potions ( they are more like items in poe ) -no instanced boss fights -skilltree ( you actually have to think what you are doing ) -item/skill combination ( in diablo III is "the best item for this slot" and only a few skill combination. in poe there lots of item combinations and tons of skill combinations ) -usefull midgame uniques -more then 4 players in 1 game -map endgame vs. brain-off-farming-endgame -no "inferno-wall" you run into ( i doubt it still exists ) well there might be more, but i havent played D3 for a while |
