Fetid Pool - 1 monster remaining bug

I understand that the last monster can sometimes be tricky to find if you missed it during your first clear. When this happens, I always make an extra sweep until I find it and it has never failed me.

Today however, I made 2 extra sweeps and still did not come upon it. I was convinced that it just didn't exist. I exited to mud flats, returned to my existing instance of the fetid pools, and there was an undead rhoa standing right at the entrance, the very last monster.

There is absolutely no way I would have missed it at the entrance when I previously left, especially with my horde of 5 zombies. It seemed only to spawn once I left then re-entered.
Monsters do have random wander patterns, it's entirely possible that while loading the exit and loading the entrance, it wandered over. Let me know if you get any other odd occurrences like this, though!
Balance & Design
I've never had that issue but let me say that I HATE looking for that last monster lol! Takes forever cuz it's dark and he's hiding in there - I just know he's hiding in there to make me run all over the place looking for him. I've found that dropping a totem, decoy works best, will usually lure them out of hiding.

asteroid came close to the earth, there's snow
in Arizona, star wars and star trek have the
same director! Who the hell is playing jumanji?
Just pretend you're AFK, it will find you.

Suppose this happened to me just now. 1 monster remaining, and I made about 8 or 9 sweeps of the entire level. Clockwise and counterclockwise. Near the walls, near the shore, and in the lake. I am of the belief that there was no monster within the level bounds. Had to create a new instance to finish it.

Was using 1 hit kills with Ethereal Knives if that's of any consequence.
I am liking the game so far.

however this quest leaves me to conclude with words like "unplayable." Because at the newbie level, this is a very bad way; you spend so much time travelling, killing, and doing all you have to....

to have '1 monster remaining' hold you up??

Hi shawnlm001

Welcome to the game! The Fetid Pool Quest is a side quest and not essential for going further with the main quest story. If you're experiencing difficulty with this quest, I would recommend skipping it for now and returning when you have a more advanced level.

If you have any other queries please let us know and we will be happy to help.
It was probably a skeletal rhoa; they move around a lot more than anything else. Instead of circular sweeps you're more likely to spot the last one doing an in and out cycle between the center of the lake and the walls with around 40 or 50% screen overlap at the outer wall. You want your sweep pattern to be short and dense enough that nothing can sneak past you before you're back to the area.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?
A Dirty Job -- Tip:

The Fetid Pool is essentially a narrow path that circles around, back to the entrance. You cannot explore the center of the map because of the uncrossable stream that also circles around, connecting to itself.

When you first enter The Fetid Pool, traverse the outside perimeter clockwise or counter-clockwise (your choice). When you get back to the entrance, head towards the center of the map until you can go no farther. Then, traverse the map again, hugging the stream this time, until you get back to the entrance. Doing this does not take very long and ensures that you've killed all the monsters (and found all the containers, if you're looking for extra loot).

If, by some chance, you still haven't found them all, there may be one or two hugging a wall of a small island (the small land masses that appear on some maps). The small islands are easy to locate on the map.
