Dying in Hardcore
Hey,
I'm a huge fan of the hardcore mode in PoE. I've enjoyed this type of play throughout all kinds of adventure RPGs. To me, it just adds to the fun when I know my character is going to die permanently if I make a stupid decision. However, I can't say I'm happy about the way the death of a HC character is handled in PoE. Being transferred into a different league just doesn't seem a worthy ending to the epic journey of valor and heroism ;-) Not that it is a big issue regarding the mechanics or content of the game, which in my opinion are awesome at the current moment. But I feel like, well - I just want my HC characters to fucking die. Dunno if that makes sense. There just shouldn't be a "resurrect" button, so you just relog and your character is fine without anything having changed except that you will be playing together with different people from now on. I think it would add to the fun if there was some kind of "death screen" saying that "your deeds of valor shall always be remembered" or whatever. Yeah I like the way this was handled in d2 and d3. I just don't think it feels very hardcore when the character stays alive after having died. Last bumped on Dec 16, 2017, 5:20:47 PM

I think If the character actually died the standard economy would accumulate higher tier items at a lesser rate it's not the landfill of dead hardcore character's items as well as their own.
I would rather my dead hardcore character was deleted also, along with all items in it's possession, I usually just delete it if I die anyway most of the time. |

Whats death in confront of the shame , shame of living in scrubcore with other scrubs?!
Think about it , death would be way to easy lol Game? Who needs to play the game? Forums are funny enough

It pretty much already exists based on the way people treat their killed HC characters. I have nothing against SC but I definitely don't play any of my dead HC characters, let alone sell their gear or anything (aka "flooding the market").
People can say that the SC economy gets flooded, but that is only when people act upon their deaths. When you die, you lose access to your entire HC stash which is HUGE. I don't know how many other people play their HC characters after they die, but I definitely don't; they are, in essence, dead to me. Yes, I have several dead HC characters of varying levels who still hold their entire gear set upon when they died. I keep them as a reminder of my past mistakes, and well, nostalgia for all of my past work put into the game, isn't that enough? TL;DR I don't play my dead HC characters at all, and by not selling or trading off their gear, I also do not flood the SC market (of which I think a lot of other people follow both of these quirks) |

Yeah. I plan on playing in standard, but starting from scratch as opposed to leveling a corpse. Most people playing HC won't touch their characters once they die and are transferred to standard, it may as well be a permanent death.
This way the HC crowd is happy and the people who don't like permanent death are also happy, win-win. |

I transfer all uniques off my dead HC character into the otherwise unused stash as a score card. Other than that, I never log onto Standard.

I only died a few times (One I killed myself around 50 the other died around 65). I gave all my items away to softcore. Those were guys I was just messing around with different builds... also have a bunch of 10-30 levels that sit there.
I was not a fan initially on having them move to SC. Rather of had some type of trophy. It did have value for people that would not typically play hard core to have them atleast try which is nice and really don't care to much on flooding the market lol. I have grown to like this way and I just delete my character. You die, no one will remember you - Going to softcore is worse then just death to HC players lol. |

" i think you are missing the whole picture ggg gives an opportunity to non hc player to play hc if you never tried hc and decided wow maybe this is for me you can do it without losing anything and thats a good idea no matter what you might think about it it gives hc new blood every day on top of that hc isnt just clicking skills there is a reason why the hc community is more mature you have to accept total loss in a blink of an eye this attitude doesnt come over night believe me i sat in front of my screen losing a 90+ sorc and saying to myself really wtf why come on this sucks damm i hate this game you have to decide weather you take the challenged map or not there is no i try and see what happens i think that over 90% consider a hc death a permadeath can only speak for myself but i havent touched any of my death hc chars in standard... why should i they are in a league now i dont intend to play anyway https://poe-ssf.herokuapp.com/. " HC players aren't better. They aren't more mature. They have more time to spend on the game, because if they die they just start again, while a "sensible" scrubcore player might think "why would I play the same build through the same content? I already did that, so when I get back to where I was, I have spent all that time for no gain." Hey, sounds like the map system. What's "hardcore" gaming to you is a fucking waste of time to me, after all, when all is said and done, we're just two people wasting time on a game. Reality check, 1337 hardcore gamers and casuals are all considered the same to everyone outside the gaming community. The only people you're going to "impress" are the other neckbeards you already play with. So a grand total of about 5 people care that you can get to lvl 90 in a HC game.
