Is armour good on a witch
Hey guys, im pretty new to PoE but im looking to make a specific build
It will be based on this criteria High energy shield High armour 1 life + immunity to chaos damage 81% Resistances on all elements (overcapped to still reach 81% in merciless) Slow/freeze enemies High block chance Now i want to pick between a templar and a witch, The reason i would go templar is because he has much better access to the block/resistance and armor nodes. The downside to this is that i dont want to be dealing physichal/elemental damage as i want to be keeping my distance away from enemies. The witch has better access to energy shield nodes and spell damage/crit multipliers all that fancy damage stuff. Im wondering, is it a good idea to go witch and go into super high energy shield/armour/block chance and play to slow/debuff enemies and stay safe. I dont mind having low dps as its not really my aim. Or should i just go with templar, the main reason i dont want to do this is that i do not want to be doing physichal damage whatsoever, id rather cast freezing pulse or multiple projectile ice lances from far. thanks, vil |

Armor is important on any character. Most melee and some projectile based attacks will be physical and they would hurt if you have no armor.

Armor can be very important. It is especially good coupled with arctic armor.

It is more about play style
Since you will be playing from a distance just aim to have good enough defenses to avoid being 1-shoot I play low-life Summoner without Shavronnes Any other build would die a lot, but not in my case since I am summoner and keep my distance (casting curses and totems) ign: GotZappedForFree Harbinger Store - Baalat's Harbie Shopie https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1931620 Last edited by Baalat#0404 on Jun 13, 2013, 6:23:25 PM

Before you commit to armour you should look at your planned gem layout. For example: if you go for Freezing Pulse cold crit you will need blue and green sockets (life leech would be the only red gem you'd use). A FP-faster projectiles-LMP-cold penetration-life leech would require BGGGR. In that case you would have to wear some eva hybrid and as you are going to take CI an eva/es chest. Switch faster projectiles for faster casting (in case of a quality FP) you have BBGGR. Might be possible on a pure ES. Anyway in those two cases you shouldn't aim for an end game AR chest as it is almost impossible to get the right colours on it.
Lesson: Don't start with a commitment to a gear type but with a build. The armour type follows out of that. |
