Marauder or Duelist? :D

So I have been hearing about this game and I finally decided to play it, after the mass of people saying this was a great game. So I'm currently downloading the game (it's downloading in the patcher) and I decided to check out some information. I read about the classes and I stumbled upon my favorites: Damage, and attack speed (especially damage). I was wondering, which should I get, Marauder or Duelist? I'm used to playing games with pure damage, but a mix of attack speed and damage sounds nice. What do you guys think? :D Thanks!

One thing you'll learn over time is that any "main" build can be done by almost every class. The class just makes you start on the tree at a different location, but they're all connected.
If you like attack speed, the Duelist area is surrounded by it. As well as damage boost on axes.

What about damage. In general is the duelist a good source of damage, or is that all the marauder?

There are many many ways to deal lots of damage. Since the classes all share the same skill tree (different starting locations) and can use any active skill as long as they have the STR/DEX/INT to use them, none of them are restricted to the traditional "roles" of RPGS, like damage dealer, tank, etc.

Also, be very careful that you do not invest too heavily in offensive power. It is often just as important to have a good defensive strategy too. This can come from your armor choice (Armor, Evasion, Energy Shield) whether you use a shield, what kind of active skills and auras you use.

My first character was pure dual wielding damage and attack speed. It failed miserably when I got to higher level because I was dying way too often.

Generally speaking, Duelist has access to more attack speed, while Marauder has access to more defensive ability. They both can deal plenty of damage.

You will run into problems fighting bosses from cruel onwards if you are playing with pure damage. This can be frustrating for new players.

If you want to go full attack, then duelist your man. In comparison, duelist would have access to better accuracy and speed, while marauder more health and armor.

Agh, interesting. Thank you for that rundown! So I'm assuming, since everyone is talking about it, the skill tree (more like forest) is a pretty big deal and actually helps a lot?

Interesting. I'm leaning more and more towards duelist. I like how he is half and half attack speed and damage. Unlike other games where there's a mage, warrior, and healer. Thank you! :D
