Iron Reflex and increased Evasion/Armour nodes
I tried looking this up, but I couldn't find anything conclusive, and the mechanics seem to have changed slightly at some point.
I have Iron Reflexes and wear mostly evasion gear right now. Should I get increased evasion nodes or increased armour nodes? Does it make a difference? I wear mostly evasion gear but because of Iron Reflexes my character's defense tab shows only an armour rating. I know the nodes with both armour and evasion only count one of them, but for nodes with a single stat increase, I'm not sure which to prioritize. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks :) |

You should actually look for the ones that do both in the same mod. "Increases armor and evasion".

" That is not correct. When using iron reflex, Armor % nodes = Evasion % nodes = Armor/Evasion % nodes. Edit: Example: Without Iron Reflex, I have 100 base Armor and 100 base evasion. If I use a combined node for 8% armor/evasion I will end with 108 armor and 108 evasion for a total of 216. With Iron Reflex, I now have 200 Armor. 8% armor/evasion will still give you a 16 extra armor for a total of 216. Last edited by PureLaine#3024 on Jun 8, 2013, 7:08:08 PM

" If you plan on using grace and determination, evasion is always better than armor with iron reflexes. |

" Could you expand on it ? I need to see some math to understand :P Last edited by PureLaine#3024 on Jun 8, 2013, 7:10:53 PM

I'm not one to do math, but I've noticed with an Iron Reflex build that you'll pretty much always end up with more Armor using pure Evasion than adding Armor or Armor/EV hybrid.

grace adds evasion, so I wouldn't think it matters what else you do, as far as gear, etc, and determination just multiplies armor, with evasion being counted as armor, so I don't think it matters what else you do.
I'm still pretty much a noob, so I would check the mechanics thread, but I don't think it makes a difference which you take -- evasion = armor here's the wiki http://en.pathofexilewiki.com/wiki/Iron_Reflexes |

" Your example is static. Consider a character that has 300 armor/100 evasion one minute and 100armor/300 evasion the next... which node is better for him? |

" Using the largest nodes so say for Armour 30%, Evasion 30% and Armour&Evasion 24%... 30% Evasion node - would flip between 607 and 469 total armour 30% Armour node - would flip between 637 and 559 total armour (because +%Increased Armour mods are applied to base Armour and base Evasion) 24% AR/EV node - wouldn't flip and be at 615.04 total armour Using Grace Aura makes investing into Evasion only nodes totally worth it tho'. |

Theres even krips video explaining it. You get evasion % from dex, then more evasion from grace, thus its easier to get more evasion and stack it up than armor. Which is always better to go pure evasion , grace and determination (which multiplies your evasion that is converted into armor with iron grip).
All in all if you go for iron grip, always go for pure evasion and evasion nodes instead of armor ( you greatly benefit from grace and determination but only do this if you go for grace, if you dont go for grace aura, go for armor nodes). I think it works like this: If you have 100 base armour, 100 base evasion, 10% increased armour, 20% increased evasion, and 24% increased armour and evasion (from Leather and Steel), then: From evasion: 100 x (1 + 0.10 + 0.20 + 0.24) = 100 x 1.54 = 154 armour From armour: 100 x (1 + 0.10 + 0.24) = 100 x 1.34 = 134 armour Total armour: 288 Last edited by NagiSoi#1418 on Jun 8, 2013, 9:04:02 PM
